Wakefield looked great.

I figured Beckett would be the #2 man, but they went with the old guard, very Yankee like. Anyway, I saw the score and without even seeing Wake in the box score I knew it couldn't have been Beckett. Beckett is a stud, he scares the f*cking sh*t out of me!

He's got our number, that's for sure. He's one of the few guys who I think should be able to make the transition from the NL to the AL pretty easily, provided he doesn't blow out his shoulder.

That's the only question with him, can he stay healthy. He's never thrown 200 innings, however, his innings pitch have gone up in the last three years.

With Boston's luck the last few seasons, look for him to reach that 200 ip mark and be in the running for the Cy Young. :no3:

SHADDAP! You know damn well you've never seen him pitch outside of the 2003 World Series, which by the way was the only stretch of his career that he was able to stay healthy and pitch well for any prolonged period of time.

He's been a good pitcher in the NL, he has the stuff to be really good, but so does Vazquez. Beckett's never been close to 200 innings. Having great stuff and being young and showing flashes doesn't mean sh*t until he goes out and proves he can pitch in the man league.

You're just slurping on his smegma because he's a Red Sox. If he was a Yankee you'd be pointing out his pretty good NL numbers and saying that he's going to get blasted in the AL. But with Boston, you think a good NL pitcher is going to be great in the AL! Pitching in Fenway instead of (Insert 18th different name for Joe Robbie Stadium here) no less!

I was on the Chacon bandwagon and he was an NL pitcher. :-| And before Vazquez proved to be a complete pussy I expected him to be a possible future ace for us.

I have seen Beckett pitch since the 2003 WS, and if he stays healthy, he can dominate. But hey, if he wants to prove me wrong, that's fine. However, I don't count on that happening. Like I said, Boston's been getting all the breaks lately. They shouldn't even have gotten a good half season out of Clement, yet somehow they did, and it wouldn't surprise me if that happens again. Ortiz goes there and just explodes. It's sickening. :furious:

I've seen Beckett pitch several times, the kid is flat out nasty. Would I bet on him to stay healthy, no, probably not. He's still a kid, he was 23 when he faced us in the World Series and made his debut at the age of 21. Would I bet on him to stay healthy, probably not. HOwever, if he ever does, watch the f*ck out. This kid is Cy Young material. Last year he pitched 180 innings, most of his career and he's creeping closer to the 200 inning mark. Obviously if I"m a betting man I don't think he ever reaches that, lord knows I'm hoping he doesn't!
