Prediction:

Yankees start the season off with a bang and win 6-4....

Lets Get It On f*ckers!!!!

Maybe this will be the year that I finally get to wash the taste of sh*t from the greatest collapse in the history of professional sports out of my mouth with some champagne.

Prediction:

I doubt it.

I'm not even going to get into all the reasons I don't like that lineup. Mid season form for Torre.

It's alright since Zito is left-handed, but I'm not sure why Matsui, who does damn well against lefties, is batting 6th. I'd swap him and Giambi

I'd swap Giambi and Matsui. I'd play Phillips against the lefty, then i'd switch him to 9th and hit Cano 8th. I'd also switch Sheff and A-Rod, but thats pretty minor, infact you can make the case for either. Torre takes the fact that his lefties can hit lefties a little to close to heart. Cano/Giambi are much worse against lefties and Matsui/Damon are almost a wash, but still a bit worse, and yet he has them bunched.

Damon
Jeter
A-Rod
Sheffield
Matsui
Giambi
Posada
Cano
Phillips

Thats how I'd go. I guess there isn't a huge difference. Sheff and A-Rod can go either way. I'm nit picking a bit.

Rainouts on opening day are worse for the world than racism. Its baseballs answer to blue balls. Nothing infuriates me more. I was at the 96 home opener and if I could go back I'd still sit in the snow.

Homie, you already know that Phillips ain't getting the playing time, especially the 1st game.

And thats part of the beef I have with this lineup. I know its not a huge deal, but these things add up. Its like the Bubba/Thompson thing...yeah, its only the 25th man, but it was still the wrong move. Its like bringing in Groom to face Angels switch hitters right handed rather than Felix Rodriguez to face them left handed, he's probably f-ed either way, but its still the wrong move. Its like tons of other things that people say "oh its not that bad, it won't make that much of a difference". Just because a mistake isn't astronomical doesn't mean its no longer a mistake.

LET'S GO YANKEES!!!!

I can't believe the season is finally here! It BETTER not be f*cking rained out! I will be pissed beyond anything.

Anyway, for the first time in 2006...

Yankees - 6
Athletic's - 3

Randy Johnson: 7IP, 3ER. 11K's

Pick to Click: Gary Sheffield: 2 for 4, double and a HR.

:supercool:

Yanks lose 5-3. The team comes out sluggish. Johnson gives up 3 runs in 6 innings.

6-3, Athletics

Johnson: 5 1/3 IP, 4 R, 7 H, 2 BB, 4 K

Ice Cream's curveball will be f*cking them up.

Pick to click: Crosby; the good one.

I just don't see a win tonight. Then again, I recall us beating Hal O'Day to start the year a few seasons ago. I just see this type of lineup giving Johnson fits today. I'm not worried about Z. Toe, but I don't think we'll rock him.

My boy with a pretty similar prediction. I think either Crosby, Bradley, or Big Hurt is homering tonight, can't decide who

That Mussina/Harden game tomorrow is the biggest mismatch in the history of sport.

I see us scoring early and then the Green Tea Torre gave the team taking effect by the 3rd or so inning like it usually does.

The only saving grace is Harden's a power guy, and we have success off that type.
