For the 2 of you interested. I've been hearing that Bonds, Sheffield, and Giambi will be the targets. If they find anything, I BETTER not see these guys suspended. If they want to take away Giambi's MVP, then fine. But something they did in 2000 should not lead to them being suspended now. It's MLB's fault that testing wasn't used back then. I just hope they take away Bonds', Sosa's, and Bic Mac's HR "records." Roger Maris is still the single season HR king in my eyes. |

It's a waste of resources. The only reason Selig could justify a suspension in my opinion is if it can be proven anyone, particularly guys like Bonds, Sheffield, and Giambi took steroids during the testing periods and found a way to get around it. What happened beforehand should be irrelevant from a discipline standpoint, although like you said they can take the records away |

"Game Of Shadows" says Giambi started using steroids in 2002. He was 2 years removed from the MVP. Their words, not my opinion. I agree with you and Cano about it being a waste of resources. Really, it's just to appease the fans who are upset and will doodoo on themselves when Bonds hits 714 and makes his run at 755. Selig probably feels that he can't just do nothing. They'd all like to move on, but he's under pressure. But really, what can come of this that we don't already know? The grand jury testimonies and the book(s) already aired it out. What new sh*t can this investigation uncover? And what will they find before, say, late April, when Bonds gets to 714? "Yes, we've got evidence that Barry Bonds did in fact take performance enhancing drugs." Say word! Alright, but this came out years ago. We heard the story about the flaxseed oil and him not knowing. Can this investigation prove, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that he knew what he was taking? We can speculate, but speculation isn't enough to get him punished. We've been speculating for a couple years and it hasn't gotten him punished. There is no new news that's gonna come out that would lead to him being suspended or kicked out. They can't recycle the same information they've sat on since 2003-2004 and try to use that - it's a rusty musket now. And let's say that they do find some real extra dirt on Bonds, Sheffield, and Giambi and others. In the words of Young Jeezy, "And then what!?" Is there a way to figure out how many of the homeruns came via steroids? Do they erase the numbers? Dock Bonds ___ number of homeruns and RBI. And his 500,000 walks are a byproduct of the power, so do they subtract that too? Take away the batting title and give it the guy who finished second? Drop his career batting average back to .295, where it was before 2001? If you're gonna go that far, might as well go here: What about the wins and team accomplishments that were a direct result of the player's production? The Giants don't make the 2001 World Series without Bonds. Do you strip their NL title? What about the RBI that his teammates got for driving him in after he got on base from IBB, which came because of his power threat, which came because of drugs? Do they hire a staff of statasticians to get cracking on that too and figure out the exact numbers and wipe them out? Giambi hit clutch homeruns in the 2003 ALCS...? Sheffield...? One thing leads to another and Selig and the Detectives can't go that far. Too many question marks and "ifs" and "maybes" that I'm sure MLB has not figured out. Really, there is no viable concrete solution because it's so late. It shows a lot of indecision on their part. This could've been done months ago, if not years, when the "Oh sh*t, baseball players use steroids" stuff came out. Bonds is probably 4-6 weeks away from passing Ruth. And they can't make it look like they're specifically out for Bonds because of who he is and who he's approaching. It's gotta be made to look like a full-blown, all-baseball investigation. Because of that, this sh*t is just for show. It'll get the fans off Bud's back for a little bit. And I hope that Bonds hits 4 homeruns on opening day, just so Bud's play clock can be acclerated. There's 49 seconds left on the game clock, it's 4th & 8 from their own 13-yard line, he's calling audibles and he's got 2 seconds left to get the snap off. |

:please: There's an obvious answer here. Strap Bonds down for a "routine examination" and once he's firmly secured ya break out the truth serum plus throw in a little torture for the fun of it (he is black after all). We can't allow him to break the bambino's "record". :peace: |

This whole situation is asinine. First off the guy leading the investigation is involved with the Red Sox. That's a f*cking joke in itself. Secondly, nobody should kid themselves. If Sheff or Giambi get caught a suspension is coming. Those scumbags in the MLB front office have been trying to screw us for years and this would be one way of doing so. This is sickening. Selig f*cked up and now he's trying to "fix" things. f*cking idiot. This just makes him look even worse. There are far more important things to worry about than if some athletes took steroids. |

Bonds wouldn't make a move without his lawyers - routine examination included. And he's a muscular, steroid'd up (allegedly) black man. They ain't strapping him down to nothing. He'd slam the doctor and security guard's heads together then start roaring and run out naked. Not to mention, truth serum wouldn't even be enough. Barry's so used to lying (allegedly) that he doesn't even remember the truth.
It's the fans pressuring him. Folks don't want Bonds breaking the records and the book just added fuel to that. Bud, who is already disliked, doesn't want to look like he's sitting back and doing nothing. But at this point, since he sat on it for so long and turned a blind eye in the 90's, he might as well. There's nothing he can do in time to stop Bonds from getting his (GO BARRY!) and then the fans will go back to being pissed and hating Buddy. And I never thought much of it at the time, but reading it in the papers, I see it. You have to think he could've found someone who isn't so linked to the sport. Mitchell works for the Red Sox and Disney, who owns EPSN, who is doing a reality show with Bonds. Now Mitchell can be snooping in Bonds' business while the company he works for televises it. And if he finds out that Ortiz is on something, does he blab or go behind the scenes and ask the Sox what to do? Conflicts of interest? Maybe. But certainly, Scrotumface could've avoided that possibility all-together and got somebody else. He is such a f*ck-up. Posted Image |
