I heard him say earlier on M&MD that Jaret Wright will be one of his top 4 starters if everything goes well with his start tomorrow. So what does this mean? Who's going to the bullpen? Wang or Chacon? Torre didn't want to say, he said he can't say because he hasn't talked it over with the pitchers yet.

I don't get it. Why would he start Wright? Has he been really good this spring? I haven't been paying attention to him at all. But Torre kept insisting that Wright will be one of his 5 starters this season!! :-||

Another thing that bothered me was that Torre was saying that Guidry has been working with Myers this spring and altered his delivery against righties. So now, according to Torre, he can get righties out as well! :-||

That's not what he said.

He said that Wright HAS A CHANCE to be one of the top-4 starters. That also means he has a chance NOT TO BE.

If Wright is one of the top 4 starters this team is incredibly screwed. Joe can't possibly be that stupid.

"Jaret Wright, certainly when we need 5 starters this season he's one of them."

- Joe Torre

Then he went on to say that he's going to watch his start in a minor league game tomorrow. And, basically, if he pitches well he'll be in the top 4 and not the 5th. Then Mad Dog tried to get it out of him who the top 4 will be, and Torre studdered and bumbled and said he can't say yet.

As Arnold says: "I know what I heard."

I hope Wright gets smacked around tomorrow and takes a line drive to the groin. But if he pitches great, I'm afraid that Torre will opt to start him and move Chacon to the pen. Using his old "Chacon is better suited for the 'Pen than Wright" excuse he's been using for years to cover his ass when he needs to start a guy because of the money he's making.

Because for years its been an automatic double any time the guy has faced a right handed batter. What do they think? Every pitching coach the guy has ever had was asleep? If they want to try it out in blowouts then be my guest, but If I ever see Myers face a righty in a close game I'm going to lose it.

Oh yeah, I heard the same thing as well. They were trying to imply to Torre that it would be correct to assume that Wright is the odd man out till April 15th with Pavano and Smalls starting the year on the DL. Torre has the f*cking nerve to say that depending on what happens Wright could be as high as 4! 4! 4?!?! What the f*ck? Has Torre gone mad?

Make sure you're not near anything besides the tv that's breakable when you watch the games then. I will say right now that there is a 100% chance that Clueless Joe will use Myers against a righty in a big spot at some point this year, it will cost us the game (like his idiotic decision to stick with Franklin against Texas last year) and then he will defend it. I really can't wait until we get a manager who knows what he's doing because Joe aint that guy.

I think Torre's just being politically correct, but there is a plus to this, either way. A guy like Wang with that sinker or Chacon with his balls could help the pen a lot, especially with Farnsworth a question mark and Dotel out. Right now, in April, we're staring Tanyon Sturtze and Scott Proctor pitching integral parts of the game in the face and that's even if Farnsworth is pitching real well. It wouldn't be the worst thing to have Wang or Chacon help bridge to Mo for the time being.

And yes, hearing Myers being messed with to be able to face right-handed batters, that seems arrogant, stupid, and unneccesary. Stick to what is working and that's getting lefties out. If we need him getting righties out, we're in trouble.

I can't wait until Myers comes into the game in the 8th and K's Jim Thome with a runner on 2nd and the Yankees up by 2. Then Torre will push his luck and leave him in to face Konerko.

Tie Game.

  I can see that. Hell, this opening series with Oakland, couldn't you see getting Eric Chavez and then being left in for Frank Thomas or Bobby Crosby? I could. The pen is light right now when you consider Dotel isn't around yet, Proctor and Sturtze are in it.

Joe is a f*cking schmuck. Year after year we have to watch Willie outwit him in those Subway commercials. Joe always ends up begging for a sandwich like homeless dude. You are the 4 time world series champion, make Willie chase you for the sandwiches dummy.

If Joe is stupid enough to let f*cking Wayne Franklin (still hate this guy) stay in and face Blalock in a big game against Texas, what makes you think he'd be against stupidly pushing his luch with Myers. The guy is a terrible manager, period. He just happened to be in the right place at the right time. Anybody on this board could've managed those teams from '96-'01 and won 4 championships.
