I read a few weeks ago that he's most likely going to void the deal. Don't know why he would do that, maybe he hates L.A.

I mean someone might give him a 3 year 33 mill equivalent, but if he wants more then he is nuts.

You want to raise Babe Ruth from the dead, you old koot?  Who else is there?!  Those are the FA's next year.  Unless there's some Jap or Cuban out there.

If I had my choice, I'd sign Lee if he doesn't want too much money.

My fat heart still has emotional ties to Soriano, even thought I hate him.  I'd give him another shot! :-||

I'm all for Carlos Lee and possibly Soriano.

Homie and Rob -

Guillen is an a-hole, plain and simple. Proves it time and time again - wears out his welcome wherever he goes.

Drew - overpaid, underplayed - always hurt.

Alou - older than Gategem

Klesko is done.

I see Guillen as Soriano+ right now. He hit better than Soriano last year in a much harder stadium to hit. I do see the beef with his attitutde, but as a player I think its better than Soriano's. Keep in mind Soriano was once second only to Bernie in my eyes, but this position thing along with his refusal to adjust as a hitter ever, in addition to the price tag...I'd prefer Guillen. In 05 and so far with the Soriano thing, Guillen has been a veteran presence for that team. All that said though, Sheff may still be the best option available. Lee I like even though he hasn't played right and had some noticable declines last season. I don't like Drew, but him healthy would be perfect. Soriano is anticipating this payday way too much and will want a fortune.

MM hates when I use the word, but Drew's upside is just ridiculous, especially in our lineup. I would pay attention to how he performs this year, if he truly is going to be a FA next off-season, since he's got all the tools. He can even play a solid CF if Damon was incapitated, he'd fit anywhere with his OBP, and that left-handed swing is tailor made for Yankee Stadium. Sheffield's been injury riddled a lot in his career, and he's only getting older, so I don't want to hear it about injury risk. If Drew goes down AGAIN this season, you gotta avoid unless you get at such a discount it's worth it.

I'll be honest, I've never liked the guy, I think he's a spoiled little punk. That said, as a player I don't think there is a better fit in all of baseball for the Yankees RF. Including Ichiro. The only problem as you said is the injuries. He can hit anywhere from second down in this lineup, and healthy he's almost a guarentee for .300, .400, .530 with 12 assists in this park.

You made me think i spelled it wrong. Yes. It may be closer to a push, but a healthy Drew, for 162 games gives you more than Ichiro. The problem again being a healthy Drew has never actually been seen for a whole season.

I certainly wouldn't be ticked off if we signed Drew, but I'd rather we go with a guy who we know will give us production and who will be out there on a consistent basis. I agree the upside is there, but so is the great chance of injury, and I'd just rather not risk it if we could get somebody else who is a little bit more durable.

I wouldn't even be against Twat Nixon. He has to be a FA soon. That Pena deal might be their way of making him expendable anyways. Not sure if he's a FA next year though

He's such f*cking trouble. We should have gotten Vlad. This is the only mistake George has made in the last decade.

I can't complain with the production, but I was on the Vlad bandwagon myself. Anyway, no matter what happens this year, I think Sheff needs to go when the year is over, I don't know who is available who could be a suitable replacement, but we need to cut our ties with him as soon as our '06 season ends, whether it's before the playoffs start or if we're celebrating #27.

As of today, I agree totally. We got some fine rookies that can hit and field the ball. I also think Bubba should be traded. I was completely in Bubba's camp the last 2 years, but I have seen some Yankees with much better talent in spring camp this year.
