The Fan is reporting that he signed Jose Lima. Yes, the Jose Lima who posted a 6.99 ERA last year. Minaya would never bring in a white player (even with Lima's past sucess) with a 6.99 ERA. Yet Omar sits there with Dog and Mike and says he doesn't target latin players.

Matt Perisho, Darren Oliver are hispanic? How about Bret Boone? Talk about a hispanic retread.

Anyone who says Minaya has specifically targeted latin players just isn't looking at all the facts.

^ You got a point. But it's just people say that because the majority of the Mets team is indeed Latino.

No, they aren't. Out of the 40 man roster, only about a diozen players are latino.

The ratio of hispanic:other players on the Mets is the same as with every other team.

Me amo algunos hispanos.

If Lima makes this team the Mets have some serious problems.

From Associated Press:

Quote:

Notes:@ Lo Duca got a big hug in the clubhouse from pitcher Jose Lima, who arrived in a flashy gray suit and black fedora. "It's the Dominican Crocodile Dundee," said Lo Duca, who caught Lima with the Dodgers. ... The offbeat Lima, in camp on a minor league contract, said he has about 2,000 suits and never wears them more than once. ... When told that Lima was on his way to the Mets' clubhouse, Martinez said: "What's he doing over here?" Told that Lima was his new teammate, Martinez replied: "We signed Jose Lima? ... This is going to be a crazy clubhouse!"
