No offense Homie, but come on, look at most of the people that win in track. Skin and bones. Unless it's different where you live. I know the black guys at the Olympic level are jacked, but that's not usual.
If I was a distance runner I'd go insane because yes, the guys that dominate those races are little dorky bitches. Has anyone seen Allan Webb in person or on TV? Even if your a good person who doesn't even know the guy you would want to punch him for no good reason. In my races(sprints) there are way fewer guys like that. In high school you had some, but where I'm from most are black so you expect them to be fast regardless of size and doofyness. Now that I'm in school and racing at some pretty big meets you get way fewer of those guys. More are white, but most good sprinters have to have muscle to stay competetive.

That's true. Sprinting is an exception, since it's anerobic which builds muscle, as opposed to endurance burning muscle. That's most of the black guys that are jacked in the Olympics I assume?

Well its more weight training than the actual running that gets them big. Neuromusculor stregnth is important so we bench alot, and leg stregnth is important because you apply more force to the grownd and your stride is longer. How fast a person moves has alot less to do with speed than most people think.

and yeah, the workouts won't make you as small, nor is it beneficial to be so.

I'd bet you gotta do leg exercises too. That ability to pull off the starting block and hit full speed is definitely a muscular trait. A lot like RB in the NFL. You gotta be able to hit that top speed quickly.

BUT... too much muscle will slow you down.

we do tons of box squating since it isolates the glutes and hamstrings (The back leg muscles are the only ones we want to get big and strong(well not the calves))and its less taxing than parrallel squats. We also do a ton of lower back stuff like dead lifts and romanians, they help you come out of the blocks strong too.

Just think, if you were black, you could jog on the treadmill at 3.5 MPH for 5 minutes and get the same effect.

Too much overall yeah, but not in the places I mentioned. For example, I'm normally 155 lbs and my bench is around 275. When i was at my fastest I was 145 lbs and benching 305. I got big where I needed to be and the running trimmed me up everywhere else. You obviously don't want to be jacked...big bicepts, calves, and quads for example would be dead weight, but in the places I mentioned size is an advantage. Somebody like Ben Johnson for example looked like a monster when he broke the 100 meter record. If he was smaller he wouldn't have been as good because he wouldn't have been as strong.
