I've been down on Bernie since 2003, his stats have been falling

So Bernie has to hit .300 with 100 RBI for you not to be down on him. It was top level in his prime or bust for you. FairweatherFan returns.

You're right I should just cheer him just because of his past accomplishments, who cares if he hits .230.

I haven't been to a game at the Stadium since 2000.  I booed him a couple times then because there was one game where he wasn't doing anything and we were losing.

FairweatheredFan hasn't been to the Stadium since the last year the Yankees won the World Series. This movie won't have many surprises in it, folks.

You got me there, there's really no exucse why I haven't gone. I also haven't had many chances to go though. Once again, you don't me, so the attacks on how I root for the team are a little unfair. And it's not like I'm only half hour away from the Stadium. But whatever, have your fun. I'll just chalk it up to you being the complete f*cking a-hole that you are.

Cheer however you want to, Yankfan. I still think the most disgraceful thing I ever heard was this pussy admitting to getting in a stranger's face over booing Jason Giambi in his Yankee Stadium debut. That one fact really has me convinced he deserves his ass-kicked. Mind your own business. People can cheer or boo who they'd like. I don't tell fans that are going nuts just by hearing Jeter's name to shutup. It takes a special kind of a-hole to be that way. I know what it's like to have a-holes at the Stadium; you can't hit them if you want to stay and watch the game like you paid for, so you gotta take their sh*t.

I was at a game against San Diego, I forget the year, but Gabe White had been worthless for a while(04 maybe?) anyway he came into a game that the Padres were comfortably ahead in and proceeded to either give up a ROPE or walk every batter he faced. Finally after I think a gap double or 4 hits in a row or something rediculous I stood up and shouted as loud as I could "I HATE YOU!!!!" I was mostly being funny, but I couldn't stand him when he was here. A bunch of the people sitting near me(upper deck, weren't many left) turned around and yelled YES! Thank You! stuff like that. They seem to know whats up...cheeper the seats, better the fan...thats a good rule of thumb

Didn't he say he wants to be a psychiatrist or something? He seems to think he's so much better than everybody here because he wants to do that. Think he's some great person because he's dedicating himself to helping others. To tell the truth about those people, they don't help a damn thing, I remember having to see several of them when my parents were going through a divorce to help me "deal with the situation." All it did was make things worse, because, being the loner that I am, I didn't want to talk to anybody, I was perfectly happy to go about dealing with the situation in my own way, and yet here is somebody telling me how I should deal with my problems. What a joke.

You want to know why this guy didn't retaliate by attempting to kick my ass? Well first of all, he wasn't a nutjob. The main reason, though, was I explained to him using reason why it was asinine to boo Giambi. It might have gotten a little heated, but I still used logic, as I usually do. I asked him if he ever booed Tino and he said no way. I asked him why he was booing Giambi and he said he had a bad roadtrip, and that he liked Tino better. I said everyone likes Tino, but do you realize people like you booed Tino just because he wasn't Don Mattingly? That was asinine too. Of course he didn't even know that happened. How shocking that he didn't remember the beginning of 1996. By the end of our discussion, he agreed it was dumb to boo Giambi.

By the way, did you happen to see Vito waiting outside by the big bat? He was supposed to meet up with Meadow's fiancee for one of those games.

But the point is it's taking a liberty to get in someone's face, and one that someone has to right to knock you out for. As much as I dislike and view things as selfish, I never confront people unless it's repeatedly and I genuinely dislike the person. You've admitted to confronting a female(tough guy) whose kid littered and someone for booing Giambi. That's horseshit, and this is coming from someone that's not above confrontation.

That was Gabe White. He sucked. Guys like Gabe and Jay Witasick get booed. This guy is talking about booing Bernie Williams because he's a whoring, money grubbing slob. I agree the better fans are usually higher up these days (wasn't that way before the 1996 title), but I sit up there plenty of times and nobody is booing Bernie Williams for the sake of booing Bernie Williams.

Yeah, if I can get myself a car this summer, and have enough money left over after paying off some loans and stuff I plan to going to some games with friends and sit in the upper decks. Good view of the field, better fans, and mostly people about my age so there's just a little bit better atmosphere I think. The only reason I was in the more expensive seats when I went to games was because my mother's parents could get those seats, and I wasn't going to turn down an opportunity to go to games. Unfortunately in recent years I've fallen out of touch with my mom's side of the family, that's why I haven't been to a game in a while. Now that college is nearing the end and I have a job, I'm hoping to make some time to get to somes games.

I boo people who f*ck up. It's not because of a genuine dislike for the guy, I boo when it's a big spot and the guy does something to screw the inning up because I get frustrated. I don't see anyting wrong with that.

I usually give the proven guys a break. I'll get annoyed and yell OH COME ON MAN, or WHAT ARE YOU DOING?? in a frustrated voice or something, but I won't boo. Except Jeff Nelson, I never liked him. And Cecil I booed a few times I think. And Womack at a game this summer when i found out he was starting over Bernie. Bernie I would never ever consider booing.

I remember opening day of 96, when it snowed....I was there with my dad and a couple of his buddies from work...I was 13. Joe Girrardi missed a basestealer, the throw wasn't all that great, and I was a big Mike Stanley fan so I yelled something. A friend of my dads told me Girrardi was a much better catcher, and I knew that from reading about Girrardi when we picked him up. It made me feel kinda dumb, i guess that may have contributed to the way I am now, how I don't overreact to mistakes and failures here and there.

I wish I was like that, but for some reason I'm not. I get frustrated by every little thing and I'll yell and scream, been like that forever. It's not just on these guys though, if I'm just playing against some friends for fun and I f*ck up I'd start screaming at myself and calling myself names. There were times in HS when I pitched where I wished I could've booed myself, so it's not like I just take stuff out on these guys. I get frustrated by incompetence no matter who it's from. Maybe I have a problem, I don't know. I should just relax and accept sports for what they are, but I can't.

A friend of my dad's knew the head of consecions(sp?) at the stadium for a while so i've had some good seats too, front row near the foul pole in left field for game 1 of the 96 ALCS...i could have stole BJ Surhofs hat if i wanted to....I always tell peopl if Jeter was left handed I would have been Jeffery Mayer(except I would have cought the damn ball), I was also in the second row of the upper deck above 1B for game 6 of the WS that year. My point about the bad seats meaning better fans was pretty much a generalization.

I know what you mean...I've been disqualified from track meets for cursing at myself. My first highschool meet I was in a relay and had to hand the stick off to this really short kid. he and I missed the pass on the initial try and then fell on my ass trying to bend over to get the stick in the short guys hand. It was gym surface so i slid a ways and he ended up just taking it out of my hand while i was on the floor, but it was too late by then. I got up and flipped the f*ck out on myself. The first curse got us disqualified(not that it mattered) and I then pulled a Paul O'Neill in the stairwell. I'm usually pretty even keeled, but I get where your coming from.

Yeah, sports seem to have a way of getting the most even keeled people to do strange stuff. If you actually knew me, you'd think I'm an easy going, nice guy I think, that's what most people get the impression anyway. But as soon I'm competing in something whether it be a serious game or just a game of whiffle ball, I change. I actually bent a whiffle bat over my knee once for striking out, and I think that same day my blood pressure shot through the roof. The only day I felt more sick was back in Oct. 2004 when the Red Sox came back to beat the Yankees from down 0-3. I want to be a sports writer so I know I need to change how I act and how I look at sports, and I've tried, but it aint easy.

I usually assume the people on this board are for the most part like me. Weather they actually act like me or more like that fan from major league 2.

Competition brings out aggression in me. If i'm in a 4x400 meter relay i'll trow elbows, which is pretty common in track, but not really like me at all. I once punched a guys square in the back, and another time in the ribs for slowing down in my lane after he passed the stick to his anchor man. I never fight in real life so its weird for me to do that. Not illeagle by the way incase anyone thinks i'm a dirty player.

Just thought of another funny story. I had sectionals my senior year of high school the night Dale Ernheart died. I long jumped bad and then got disqualified for the rest of the meet for cursing after one of the jumps. The front page of the sports section in the local paper had a small picture of me jumping next to the picture of the accident. The caption read "New Rochelle girls win 7th straight section 1 tittle, Boys struggle, finish 17th. Story on page whatever... My face said it all.

Bernie is making a measly $2 million a year and you two are throwing a hissy fit, unreal.

This isn't Chan Ho Park and his 5+ ERA making 11 million per.

This is probably Bernie's last season, hopefully he can leave a World Series champ...But for you two to just turn your back on what he's done for this organization and blast him as if he was starting every day making $15 million a year is a total joke.

Plain out pathetic.

Agreed. Your example of overpaid is actually understated. Park was making $13 million a year, which was complete silliness. Bernie is making $2 million in what is probably his last season and they guys not only bitch, but put down Bernie as a money grubbing whore. They're jokes.

$13 million, wow, now THAT'S stealing money...Blast Wright, blast Pavano, those two are very well documented in their bashings to Mussina, Jeter...Ah whats the use of naming specific players, they bash every player regardless, two weeks into the year Damon will be in the "Soft L Club", hell even BC blasted Don Mattingly...They are a joke, they have to find a reason to complain on every little thing, it gets comical watching these two, just agreeing and agreeing with eachother as if they are lovers.

Bernie was paid $12 mil last year to hit .242 then thinks he has a right to come back this season. Screw that, getting paid $2 mil to bat .230 or less this season is plain out pathetic, not bashing Bernie. I'm sure you'll be one of those fans giving him a standing o every ab he has though, even after he grounds in to dp after dp in big spots. I on the other hand will be booing for being the money grubbing whore that he is.

I'd totally understand your gripe if he was making $12 million this season, but it's $2 million!! Do the Yankees really have to have an all-star team man? I mean how greedy are you? Do you want like Travis Hafner at DH? The team already has the highest payroll in baseball, how can you be greedy and expect an all-star in the entire lineup?

Of course i'd be giving Bernie standing O's, it's most likely his final year, he's been great as a Yankee, very respected and a class guy, and you want to just give him the cold shoulder? Call him a money-grubbing whore for making $2 million a year? Steinbrenner wipes his ass with $2 million. You won't boo him at all if you go to a game, you know when his name is called you won't boo...You may not give a reaction or cheer, but you won't boo, you're gutless.

:please: It's not the money. It's the roster spot. The New York Yankees should have a much more accomplished starting DH than Bernie and Fillups. ;)

btw/ I would NOT boo Bernie. He had a great Yankee career. I just think he's done. :peace:

So nice try a-hole, but you fail, and I'm really getting sick of the bashing.

We're not saying players don't deserve to be booed...But you two take it alot further.

But the ACT you and BC do is getting really old. You're getting sick of the bashing? Well we're getting sick of the act you two keep putting on.

You better believe a lot of it is an act. I asked 473 in person if it's an act. He said sometimes he is serious, sometimes he takes it further than he actually feels. Plus throw in the idea that they all look up to Kocur, even though none of them actually know him, so they all try to top each other with the doom and gloom. Every fan gets upset at their team or players on the team at times. These guys never stop.

By the way, did you happen to see Vito waiting outside by the big bat? He was supposed to meet up with Meadow's fiancee for one of those games.
Cano, This part went over my head. Didn't get it.

Ah, if you've seen the 5th season of Sopranos, the big fat f*ck mobster, Vito, who has actually lost weight recently, is caught giving head to another guy by Tony's daughter's fiancee. The fat f*ck later on tells the fiancee he's taken him to a Yankee-Padre game and to meet in front of the big bat, which the kid never does.

As for attitude towards competition and sports, I will definitely say it makes me angrier. I'm not like Yankfan03, who is probably totally calm outside of sports, but politics, sports, and observing people's day-to-day behavior can really set me off and bring out a real angry side. Like I've told Strider in IMs, I actually put up with a lot of sh*t from people, sh*t that he's surprised I would take, and I usually give people the benefit of the doubt. But if I'm worked up from sports or something, I have a hard time controlling myself.

I'm with you Homie on the during competition. I couldn't stand losing. I wrestled the County Champion my first year in our first scrimmage of the year. I did fairly well, considering he was the best at that weight class, but just losing through that all aside and I was kicking the mats and screaming afterwards. When I'll play football and was in shape, I would be offended when someone tackled me one-on-one becuase I could usually keep my legs going and get more yards. Little stupid sh*t in competition that's going to happen and I couldn't accept it. I actually practiced with the track team up until their meets on season and I never would do it competitively, simply because I wanted it for cardiovascular conditioning to complement the weight training, and also I would have lost my mind if I lost to the usual scrawny track dorks. No offense Homie, but come on, look at most of the people that win in track. Skin and bones. Unless it's different where you live. I know the black guys at the Olympic level are jacked, but that's not usual.

Staying in the NL.  Terrible career move for him.

Agreed.

Should have released Bernie and brought him in. Bernie is gonna come into camp fat and outta shape. All he cares about are the dollars now. What a disgrace.

And Piazza will come into camp skinny, fast, and with a rocket arm. Atleast we don't have to watch Bernie in the field much...they have to watch Piazza catch.

Bernie's hitting will make his defense look good. BTW, has Bernie arrived at the BOB for game 7 yet?

Captain Danica is the one who brought it up. Do you know why Bernie was late? I'll tell you. He was playing his Banjo in the Phoenix Marriott lounge and lost track of the time. True story.

Here's the thing about me and YF03. We want to win. We're starving for #27. We want to see the best team outhere and one with Bernie and the AAAA sisters is not it.

Get off your low horse already. I agree with you in one respect, I want Bernie getting 250 ABs tops, not 400 or more. And I don't want Andy Phillips in the lineup. But Mike Piazza most certainly was/is NOT the solution.

He's a better solution. But like I said before, FECK Piazza. Give me a Durazo or Molina or another outfielder.

Your twin is coming off a major elbow surgery and isn't an option. Obviously I would take Molina in a heartbeat.

Elbow surgery? Wasn't there talk of players coming back better after that?

Pitchers with TJ surgery, not 1st Baseman.

Nah, hitters too. Tony Womack had his best year in St Louis following it and Luis Gonzalez of the DBacks had said he felt better than ever last year. Don't know though. It's a small sample. There was an article last year suggesting it would benefit hitters as well. There's no real evidence out there though. Womack and Lu Go aren't the best guinea pigs.
