I bought Deer Hunter (cuz Amit said so) and it's not as good as you'd think. It has stretches of "What the f*ck?" and "Damn, this is boring." It picks up from the middle on, but it just gets weird and almost seems incomplete and then the resolution is rushed. It'll leave you like, "Wuh....it's missing something. And this is supposed to be a great movie?" Good movie, but don't go in expecting anything special.

thanks for the breakdown, strizzle. whats yous be recommending

you guys haven't done your reading on tim robbins, apparently. i know too much of tim robbins and have seen too much of tim robbins to just say his name without having abhor. some of the worst people in this country, if you want to be technical, are "law-abiding citizens" i think its simplistic to think that makes or breaks someone as a human being. there's totally legal ways to be a douchebag like ive said before

i take it you never saw the sundance(or was it bravo) special on fahrenheit 9/11 that i watched because i was too tired to change the channel. tim robbins goes on a tirade about essentially the fact that this country needs a violent overthrow. yeah, what a model human being. please, know your facts before you try and condescend me. please

I don't care what Tim Robbins has to say in a liberal forum like Sundance. To think he's among the worst people in this country over hardcore criminals, and to say infer that some tirade he went on is worse than murder, rape, or other violent crimes because you don't think being one of the worst people in the U.S. is defined by the crimes one has committed, is a complete and utter joke. There's a difference between thinking someone is a "douchebag" and calling him one of the worst human beings to reside in the country. Try to be consistent in your insults.

While we're on the subject though, why don't you dig up those quotes in which he suggests the U.S. needs to be violently overthrown so we can all take a look and judge just how evil he is on his own. Regardless, I don't agree with Robbins' views, but they're pretty irrelevant to me. I like his acting and that's all I care about. Just as I love Pearl Jam, but don't agree with their anti-Bush propaganda at their concerts.

leave it to you to respond to a subject that's over. if anything, it didn't even need to be started. i've cut you nothing but slack, despite the fact you're the same douchebag. you need to realize there's a thing called give and take

now, back to movie discussion

What are you talking about? How is it over? It souldn't have been brought up? You brought it up by knocking Tim Robbins' politics! You wrote something to me at after 6pm last night when I was gone for the day and sitting in class. Last night I got on very late after the Yankee game and checked out some sports topics. This morning I went into this forum, saw what you had to say to me, and replied. Explain what is wrong with that. You're a jackass, you know.

you know something. the discussion is over. it shouldn't have even begun. im overzealous with my dislike about tim robbins and it never had to get in there in the first place without you jumping in and breaking it down. your the same f*ck that insults people, i called you out on it, and now you have a vendetta. i said, if its really this much animoysity, id fight, but if not, theres no point keeping a war of words, which is childish. yeah, fine, im a jackass, but ill fight for what i believe in.

So what you're saying is you could bring up a topic, people could reply, you could be a dick back to them, and then everyone should know the topic is over at that point? You're a complete joke.

do you really think your the victim? all your posts have been insults to me, and i've let a large majority of them go. now, you're trying to reverse roles, where you come in after i post something and try and be a dick to me. you know something, i apologize for starting sh*t. you know that. im sorry. its not worth the anger. having an online enemy is so useless because there's nothing you can do about it

I bet I had the same type of replies when you posted similar Tim Robbins stuff in the past. In fact, I'd love for someone to dig them up. BeanBoy might know where they are. Bean, bump up that thread if you know where it is. I probably brought Pearl Jam up as an example back then too. My replies to you on this subject have absolutely nothing to do with stuff you have said to me in the past few months. I reply when I want to reply, and that's that. Don't tell me a subject is over when it's the first time I am reading it. I don't have online enemies. You're nothing to me. Most of the people here are nothing to me, other than a few I have had more contact with. I'm here to discuss sports and some other topics, plus joke around when I am bored at work, not make friends or enemies.

well, if you met me in person, you'd know you had an enemy. but whatever. its over. the fact is i didnt think saying tim robbins is one of the worst human beings in this country was bad at all. ive seen enough of him, read enough of him to believe that. you can bunch that in with murderers and criminals if you want, whatever. but i dont get why you jumped in on that when the discussion was clearly still on movies. end it.

damn, you so remind me of this one millionaire wrestling promoter i once knew. everyone was nothing to him. thats the guy that slapped me, so i slammed him on his head. he was such a phoney; smile to everyone's face, talk sh*t behind their backs. his friends were all means to an end. everyone was expendable to him. one of the reasons i can't like rich people.

what was hilarious though was for how he always talked about being a doer, not a dreamer, when he ran into vince mcmahon, he was in awe. this normally overspoken guy couldn't talk for sh*t; he was amazed at the money and the power the man possessed. it was funny, since it symbolized to me how we're all just little fish in a pond. even the ones that pretend to be big have those that awe them

Silliness to the largest extreme. My friends and family mean the world to me. This is a message board. I have some friends on these boards who I know in person (e.g. Terp, BleacherCreature), some others I am friendly with over IM (e.g. Drew, Vinnie, Rob), a couple of others I exchange an occasional PM with, and then everyone else is just a person typing their thoughts on a message board. In other words, they're nothing to me. That's not an insult. It's a fact. They don't affect my life at all.

perhaps. nobody can account for anyone's personality on a message board unless we're 100% intellectually honest, which absolutely nobody is, some worse than others. like i said, i had a little shrimp friend, as laidback and friendly as can be. talk to him on a message board, he was all tough wording and outspoken. i would imagine pretty much nobody is as they appear on a message board, as opposed to real life. i could go to the stadium and blast players out loud and not hear a peep. if i do it on a board, if i rip the wrong player, i'd get insulted and argued with

the wording your nothing to me and the way you talk tough like he did is what reminds me of him, since he would call me anything known to man via email, but not in person. im sure your not a millionare or run any businesses

unrelated, but since this discussion has broken down to unrelated talk. can somebody tell me why phoneys in business and sales can't be seen through? i've rarely met genuine human beings in any business venture or in any venture where i was buying something. people aren't naturally gifted actors. i always wonder why people cant see through people. cant someone tell those that smiles are fake and who are genuinely good people. i didn't think it was that hard.

I was getting in people's mugs at the home opener in 2002 when they were already booing Giambi in his first home game as a Yankee.

because they have no accountability for their actions. a fist is accountability. i've always claimed that people deserve to be accountable for their actions, so it's not uncommon for me to believe this

in most major sports throughout the world, officials get fired for f*ckups on the spot. there's accountability. you want to say a fist is worse than being fired, fair enough. but once you take accountability out of the equation, there's chaos.

I feel like my parents asking this, but have you ever read the book? It's a lot better. It goes into a ton more detail. I read the book before seeing the movie.

i can't differentiate what's better though, godfather 1 or godfather 2. i freakin love that scene in godfather 2 where tom hagen goes to visit frank pantangelie and they talk about history, while at the same time agreeing to commit suicide

I'm not much a fan of Godfather 2 or 3...Godfather I was a movie that didn't need a seuqal or anything...Even more the reason why Scarface is the greatest of all time, nothing can tops that.

I'm not a big reader either, but do yourself a favor since you like the movie so much, read the book. It's not like it is boring reading. It's all the stuff you enjoyed in the movie and more. It's good stuff.

My parents are the big readers, which is why I said I felt like my parents asking that.
