Yup. $10-$11 mil a season for a .500 pitcher. Cause that's what he's gonna sign for. Everyone has a hard-on for him cause he is a former Mets prospect and he throws 100MPH. Well he's nearing 30 and he still hasn't solved his control issues. Pass!!! |

Yeah and? A career 3.72 ERA to go along with that. That's not worth $11mil a year which is what he's gonna get. The Pavano of this year. |

You watch, that's what he's gonna get. He's the "Premier" FA pitcher this off season. That should tell you all you need to know about this year's FA starting pitcher list. |

Why are you guys using wins in this convo, when ERA is what matters? If he has a chance at having a 3.44 ERA here(Which he does), then he will be worth good money. A 3 year deal for him is good. |

he'll sign with the Yankees and all Yankee fans will expect him to be Roger Clemens but he will spend the entire season on the DL and they will wonder how much longer it will take for Cashman or Torre to be fired |

why do we not want a 3.45 ERA 200 K's and letting Peterson work with him???? This guy is a cy young winner if he ever finds himself. Since when are we too dirt poor to make a 3 yr 30 mil investment? |

They'll sign him and then have another Pavano scenario on their hands. But before the '06 season starts, all throughout spring training, they'll have Burnett sigs and will all be smoking his pole, but then they'll realize how much he sucks. :serious: |

Burnett’s got the type of stuff that overnight he could become the best pitcher in baseball. You don’t take a pass on that type of talent. If he was Hispanic Omar would sign him. |

If that was the case Zambrano would be a $11mil pitcher as well. All Burnett is is Zambrano with a harder fastball. He's been pitching for 7 years, and in 3 of those years he couldn't get through a season because of a bad arm. He's got a career ERA of 3.72. That is not ace material no matter how you cut it. |

Zammy doesn’t have this guy’s curveball or a 100 mph fastball. AJ’s got Gooden type stuff. BTW Gooden didn't throw as hard as AJ. Zammy couldn’t carry AJ’s jock. |

The guy has pitched to 103 MPH from what I've seen, and I've heard he has reached 104 MPH. If that guy ever got a pitching coach like Leo Mazzone, he'd be the most dominant pitcher in baseball. |

I'd take him for the going rate to be honest. He's got great stuff. Power pitchers like him can be really good here at Shea Stadium. It's a risky proposition, but one that is well worth it. |

Burnett is a good pitcher but he isn't worth that kind of money, i'd rather just put Heilman in the rotation next season: Pedro Glavine Benson Seo Heilman I like that rotation alot!!! |
