When exactly did this season go to sh!t?

And what exactly caused it? We had that one hot streak when M.Jacobs came up and brought a helpful boost and we all thought we had a chance. A few weeks later, we're 8.5 games out of the Wildcard and truly out of the race? Why such a collapse AGAIN?

At the beginning of the year, I thought next year would be the year we made some noise, but judging by the way Willie and Omar have operated this year, I don't think that's going to be the case. Why after this collapse are utterly turd players like Miguel Cairo (who I now admit I was wrong about), Jose Offerman, Gerald Williams, Mike DeFelice, Kaz Ishii, and Danny Graves still on the team when they serve no purpose to the organization? This organization showed no urgency the entire year. That's ok if they were planning for next year, but they weren't.

Apart from Heilman, Reyes, and Wright, which of our prospects have been given the true opportunity they deserve? Diaz and Jacobs spent entirely too much time in the minors this year. Where was Seo when Ishii was making a mockery of himself start after start? Where was A.Hernandez when he was ripping up AAA? Why hasn't Pagan come up for a look see? Why was Valent never called back? Good organization's call these types of players up when the team is struggling to try and provide a boost. The Mets, on the other hand, call up Daubach, G.Williams, and J.Offerman for some reason. If that continues, there is no we are winning anything next year or any year soon for that matter.

BTW Here is Dumbo's reasons for not batting Beltran 2nd even though that is where Beltran has had the most success in his career:

Quote:

He expects José Reyes, his leadoff hitter, to get on base more next season and become even more of a threat to steal, and he does not want a talented hitter like Beltran taking fastballs so that Reyes can have a chance to run.

"Just because he's had success in the second slot doesn't mean a whole lot," Randolph said of Beltran. "And that could be all it is. Sometimes you're in a spot in the lineup and you just get hot in that spot."

The mets collapse didn't have to do with Willie, the mets offense went dead after leaving Arizona and that's it, what the mets need is another big hitter and hopefully they'll get one in the offseason!!!
