when barry bonds comes to the plate now that hes back, i want to see him send balls 500 ft into the cove. it gave me goosebumps to see him back and doing this thing. the guy doesnt even have much of a warmup to get back into september baseball and hes already hitting balls a mile. a special ballplayer that we cant let steroids ruin how great he is and was. one of my biggest regrets was the yankees not pursuing him after his 73 hr season. it was understandable why the league was timid to take a chance on him for the price, but the impact this guy could have made on a team with actual talent, instead of carrying a team that has comprised of jason schmidt and 23 others. baseballs not to be so influenced by just one man, but bonds has stood out among even the greatest. some of us dont even appreciate how special albert pujols has been since his debut, because bonds has been there to overshadow.

a very underrated and overlooked stat about bonds. production(slugging plus on base percentage) its a very good measure of a players year. around .900 is excellent and a lot of the elites are around there. even mid to upper .800s, you'll find some of the games best free swingers. with barry bonds, he hasn't had an ops below 1.000 since 1992!!!

It's funny that the same person who preaches the evils of selfishness is praising perhaps the most self-centered athlete of our generation. Turning around in someone's driveway or honking a horn is selfish, but Barry Bonds is not.

He was on his way to being a Hall of Famer before the juice, which is why his use makes even less sense to me than others. He has now tainted his legacy. I'm more impressed with the .300, 35, 110, 35 SB, Gold Glove LF'er Bonds than I am the roided up .340, 45, 100, 175 walk Bonds.

does anyone buy that bonds is still using the juice this season? because hes hitting 80% of the bonds of last year and the seasons before and he didnt have a spring or rehab to get himself in game shape. if he isn't juicing, you might have to look back and give credibility to the years everyone assumed were tainted.

im split. i think he did juice, but i also think he figured out how to hit the inside pitch that used to be way pitchers went on him. he was always elite and was getting pitched to in a very similar manner. perhaps, seeing something long enough, the light went on, and he figured it out. thats possible.
