Buy tickets!; Avoid a blackout!

Anyone who can go or knows people who can go, buy tickets to the game! It could end up blacked out if it doesn't sell out, which is BS since this is supposed to be a NO home game. The whole thing is obviously BS since it shouldn't even be played here, but the blackout rules might still come into play.

People who have only lived in this market might never have dealt with it, but the Bills games were often blacked out when I was away at college because they didn't sell out. Sometimes a rich local businessman would buy the last 5000 seats or however many it took to officially sell the game out so everyone could see them play on TV. Hopefully they will either waive the blackout rules in this case, it will sellout in the next few days, or a similar situation where a local rich individual gobbles up the remaining seats for the greater good of the NY fans. I'd go if I could, but I have class, and can't miss it. There's no radio TiVo, so I am screwed if the game is not on TV since I can't even listen to it.

id go, but its too short notice. i dont think i have to worry about a blackout so many miles away, but i hope nobody has to deal with it. blackouts suck

i dont know if anyone can confirm this, but when the carolina panthers came into existence, there was talk about how their blackout area would be over 200 miles and cover both north and south carolina and surrounding parts, so that if the panthers didn't sellout, that whole entire area wouldnt be able to see their home games. i wonder what came of that.

Maybe it was because they played their first season in South Carolina, even though it was known their eventual permanent home would be in North Carolina?

Oh I have no idea. I was replying to the first part of your post about the range being so large. I can try to find out. I have a couple of friends who live in Charlotte.

No blackout of Giants-Saints game

BY BOB GLAUBER
STAFF WRITER

September 16, 2005, 3:30 PM EDT

The NFL will lift its television blackout rules for Monday night's game between the Giants and Saints, in spite of the fact the game has not sold out, Newsday has learned.

NFL policy prohibits games from being televised in the local television markets of the home team unless the game is sold out 72 hours before kickoff. As of late yesterday, there were still approximately 20,000 unsold tickets. An official announcement from the NFL is expected later this afternoon.

The main reason for lifting the blackout is the unique circumstances surrounding the game. The Saints were originally supposed to host the game in New Orleans, but Hurricane Katrina and the ensuing floods forced the league to look elsewhere because of the unavailability of the Louisiana Superdome. By lifting the blackout rules, viewers in the New York area will be able to watch the game in its entirety. The NFL is seeking to raise money to help hurricane victims, and it doesn't want to limit the amount of donations by preventing New York-area viewers from watching the game.

ABC will carry the Giants-Saints game in its entirety to the New York and New Orleans markets. For the rest of the country, the Giants-Saints game will switch over to ESPN at 9 p.m., at which ABC will carry the regularly scheduled Monday night game between the Cowboys and Redskins in Dallas.

well thats good. it seemed like something that wouldnt be blacked out based on the circumstances, but with the nfl, it wouldnt have been a shock. it will look weird if more tickets arent sold though; game 2 of the nfl season and empty seats at giant stadium already. bad omen. its a picky thing of mine, but i always like knowing theres a full crowd, even if this isnt supposed to be a giant home game.

There was a time when all home games were blacked out (whether there was a sellout or not). My brother told me that the famous 1958 Giants/Colts game was blacked out in NY. I recall we had to watch Channel 3 (CBS affiliate) out of Connecticut to see the Giant home games. My brother purchased a “Parabolic Sail” UHF antenna to see the Jets/Raiders playoff game in 1968. I also remember seeing the Knicks/Lakers championship game on May 8th, 1970 on Channel 8 (ABC affiliate).

Question will the game be blacked out in Connecticut or will it be shown on Channel 8?

yeah. probably because people up there dont have lives or jobs. its no shock that a game on short notice like this would have trouble selling over 70,000 seats. people in the new york area have other things to do

whats with you new englanders and your arrogance? you come on here and talk about a topic that doesnt concern you just to talk sh*t. you'll get snapped at and rightfully so. a game goes on sale a week ago with 70 thousand seats to sell and without season ticket holders getting dibs and you just expect it to sell out immediately? if your saying that happens up there, it must be because you guys have no purpose to your existence except to wait for events to come to you.

do you realize this thread had nothing do with boston, new england, vermont, new hampshire, connecticut, the patriots, nambla, ted kennedy, theo epstein, david ortiz, and nothing else remotely relating to you having to come in the thread and say stupidly " wow. 20,000 extra tickets? If this was the Patriots the game would have LONG been sold out" take that condescending way of talking elsewhere.

Ok, I think in most other Major Markets the game would have been long sold out, put it that way

ya because new york is not a major market

stop making yourself sound stupid.

Season ticket holders cant go because they make their plans according to the 9 weeks they have off during the football season.

Regular people cant make it because they have to work.

Other just dont want to go because the giants are exactly oozing optimism.

Not many people expected to get tickets, i guarantee you the game will still sell out once people find out tickets are still available.

Finally just please shut the f*ck up

he got banned for no reason and then got blackballed.

Drew - Yes, they had to pay pull price if they wanted in and chances are they dont.

hahaha, Ive said worse about the Jews, dont forget that.

This game probably wouldnt sell out in any market.

Most games are sold out because of season ticket holders and reserved seats. Obviously there are extinuating circumstances as far as that is concerned with this game.

-It may be too short notice
-They may not have there regular seats so they say f*ck it
-Its a monday night

And most regular folk that buy tickets by them weeks in advance. For anyone with a normal income, it may be way too short notice.

It has less to do with the fact of where the game is being played and more to do with the fact that people have lives and the tickets have been on sale for what? a week?

Yes, Doug, but you are irrelevant so nobody takes you seriously. (j/k) :laugh2:

Okay, if it gets blacked out on Channel 7, will Channel 8 carry the game so we here on the Island can get it with an antenna.
