Morton in as returner

Despite not playing since he tore the ACL in his right knee last Halloween, Chad Morton, the Giants' new punt returner, pronounced himself "ready to go" yesterday. And Tom Coughlin said Morton will be returning punts in the opener on Sunday.

Coughlin said the Giants gave Morton "an extensive workout" Saturday before signing him to a one-year contract, four days after he had been released by the Patriots.

Notebook

MANNED: Eli Manning (elbow) did not throw yesterday, but he make about 75 tosses Sunday. He is expected to practice every day this week and he said, "Unless something happens I'll be ready for opening day. ... I threw some long ones (yesterday)," Manning said. "I am ready to start preparing for Arizona."

LINING UP: CB Will Peterson (knee) said he's feeling "good," but Coughlin cast some doubt on his availability for the opener. "I don't know that it will be a full green light," he said. ... Coughlin said he will open the season with the new-look LB corps he used for much of the preseason: Carlos Emmons on the weak side, Reggie Torbor on the strong side and Antonio Pierce in the middle. It's possible Barrett Green, recovering from ACL surgery, won't be active on Sunday. Coughlin also said David Tyree will be his No. 3 WR, and his starting DTs will be William Joseph and Kendrick Clancy.

You just finding out, papa? Dude's career high in tackles was 10, back in 2001 and he's yet to record a sack.....or even half a sack. Couch and f*cking doghouse. Atleast by the time his tenure is coming to an end and a lot of fans are hating him, I can say that I never liked him to begin with. He turned me off before last season and hasn't done anything to redeem himself. He'll put discipline and "all that bullsh*t coach talk rhetoric" ahead of winning the game or putting his team in the best position to do so.

this move is really pissing me off, the fact is you will need size to stop the run, unless you are really damn good and we have:
unemyiora - undersized although surprisingly good at stopping the run
joseph - good size
clancy - f*cking small as sh*t
strahan - good size, best all around end in the game (if not top 3)
torber - speed/coverage guy
pierce - undersized run stopper
emmons - big but coverage guy

we may stop the run for a few quarters but we will get run the f*ck over in the 3rd and 4th, we will be just too damn tired from shedding guys twice our f*cking size.

By the way - There was an article in The Post the other day talking about Strahan's weight loss. I had noticed it watching him in a Giants Training Camp (that sh*t on YES) interview before pre-season. He looked thinner. Found out, he's down to 255. He said that he thinks it'll help his game and doesn't think he's lost any stregnth.

And Osi - if you believe the listings - isn't really undersized. At 6-4/280, he's big for a RE. He's probably really about 265, but that's still about average for a speed rusher on the right. Simeon Rice is smaller than him. Jayson "Bench presses kick my ass" Taylor is a little smaller. Dwight Freeney could fit in his pocket.
-------------------------------------------

The only positive is that Coughlin likes rotating defensive linemen so Robbins will get some plays. But isn't nonsensical to have a guy who was signed to a $20M contract and is coming off a season in which he was our best interior lineman and then bench him for a guy who hasn't been given a chance before (mother f*ck you, Jim Fassel) so he's unproven and a guy who has accomplished even less in more time? And doesn't it sound funny to hear that the DT is overweight? No sh*t, he was overweight about 2,000 Applebee's dinners ago. He was OK at "big fella" but he put on 10 pounds in the off-season so he's now "morbidly obese" and we won't stand for that. If Ted Washington or Grady Jackson came here....

Tommy and his bullsh*t. :no1:

Osi Umenyiora

They actually have him at 6-3. He might be in that Julius Peppers mold.

J-Pep is around 300. Richard Seymour is another one.

i agree with what your saying but there must be a reason that robbins isnt starting. If William Joseph can finally step up and be that elite DT he was supposed to be this line can be one of the best in the NFL.

what bothers me is that will peterson might not play. im sorry but larry fitzgerald, anquan bolden, and bryant johnson is a pain to deal with even with your secondary at full strength. not having your best cover corner isnt exactly the way to start the season properly against them. the good part though is kurt warner doesnt seem to break his problem of holding the ball too long. strahan and osi could have 2 forced fumbles a piece.

is their a real explanation for why robbins isnt starting? most people didnt like the deal when he was paid 20 mil to play last here last season, but he won some people over. now, hes getting paid a ton and not even playing at all?

The reason is that he is overweight. Imagine that a tackle getting in trouble for being too fat.

Hopefully one bad outing against the run and he will be back their. He was one of the bright spots last year.
