I thought Jolley was acquired so he could the starting TE. We gave up a first round pick for the guy and now I am reading that Baker is going to be the starter...WHAT GIVES???? |

I always thought Baker had the potential to start for this team one day, but I agree. Why give up a first round pick for virtually a back up tight end? The one thing though is that in Dingers system the tight end is used a lot so we could benefit from having two quality ends. |

Jolley hasn't impressed in the pre-season. He caught just 4 passes for 24 yards. Baker hasn't done much either (3 for 30), but I guess the coaching staff is more comfortable with him since the team knows him better. I said in another thread that I wasn't high on Jolley. The Raiders drafted another pass catching TE (Teyo Johnson) after his first season and even in an offense and with a QB that loved to throw to his backs and TEs, he didn't put up big numbers. And watching him in clips of practice, his route running didn't look crisp. He looked like an average TE running the routes. That has the makings of another possession guy who will struggle to get separation. Like he'll have similar YPC numbers as Becht, just with more catches and fewer drops. Baker treats balls like hot potatoes, but he's a better athlete. But to justify the trade, I think Jolley will wind up getting the majority of the snaps. Its not a big deal. |

I didn't know that. But what I said still holds. Despite having Jolley (24 years old at the time), they still drafted Teyo, a pass catching TE. |

Alot of teams were interested in Teyo because of the type of player they thought he could be molded into. He would never be a full time TE, he was one of those more mismitch players too big for a corner and too quick for an LB. As far as Jolley vs Baker, i'm sure we'll see alot of both of them. I'm willing to bet 1st offensive play of the year both are on the field in a two TE set. Bad news for Sowell, but I think we'll see alot of singleback two TE formations. |

I'm still more happy with Jolley,Nugent and Miller Rather than just Heath Miller and Mike Nugent I think Jolley will be used in this offense quite often, he has very good hands, but his blocking is like sh*t... |
