I just looked up the numbers. He's got a 4.30 ERA this season, but 3.05 on the road. ESPN.com says that he throws 92-94 on the fastball, has a curve (his out pitch), changeup, and slider.

We could do worse for a 5th or 6th starter.

They said its for a minor leaguer. I hope its Hughes or Duncan so MM can lose his mind and murder someone.

Chacon is awful...I know he has Rockie-itis...but he was horrible....I guess they are looking at him as a starter.

I broke this story in a discrete manner in the probables thread. They better not give up anything good for Chacon. A change of scenery could help him, but not worth the risk if giving up someone of value.

From the Denver Post:

As the trades for Wilson and Kennedy were finalized, the Rockies moved forward on a deal that would send Shawn Chacon to the Yankees for a minor-leaguer capable of contributing next season. Chacon has made just one start since returning from a hamstring injury, and will likely have to prove his health before a deal goes through.

:furious2: :furious2: :furious2:

ESPN's sauce = Denver Post

ESPN Radio said that their source was the Denver Post. Don't get on that Phil Mushnick sh*t and throw shots at ESPN for "stealing".

Melky, Thompson, or Henn?

I wouldn't mind getting Chacon if he's healthy. Good stuff, Coors sindrome. I'd be annoyed if it was Melky.

Make it Thompson...but he's probably not considered a top minor leaguer. Give 'em Proctor (yeah I know he's not in the minors).

Who cares what the primary source was? The news is the news and as a Yankees fan, that's all that matters. And it had the ESPN tag on, so its about 95% credible.

Just was curious....my point only being that ESPN wants you to pay for that Insider sh*t and you can find the same rumors on other sites, like CBS Sportsline.

I think Thompson is underrated as a prospect. 25, awsome numbers, great arm from what I've heard. Melky seems to be a bit overhyped, especially on this Board. Melky will probably be better, but Thompson is WAY more Pollished. Chacon has good stuff(sick curve or Splitter if i remember right) I like him alot. Picking up Rockies Pitchers is like the opposite of picking up Braves Pitchers.

I don't read Insider or even ESPN.com (unless its a link from one of you or I need the quick scouting report). I don't read much, period. I heard it on the radio.

More walks than strike outs this year. One game walked 7 in 5 plus innings and another 9 walks in 5.2 innings. His career numbers of walks are almost that of his strike outs. No thank you.

Obviously rules out Wang and Cano (here right now), and most likely Hughes and Duncan (a few years away). I doubt they'd move Melky right now, unless Byrnes is involved too.

So if those 5 are in fact out of the mix, I love this move.

In 2002 Mike Hampton had 74 Ks and 91 BBs. Get him out of there and he'll be a good pitcher.

You can't say "No thank you", we already got him.

1. What Homie said. It is Colorado.
2. We're not counting on him to lead the charge. He's the 5th starter and all I'm looking for him to do is be an improvement over Sean Henn and Darrell May. That shouldn't be difficult.
