Lefty starter and reliever. Yanks have neither. Don't bring up Womack. |

Doesn't seem like he went for much, but Beane's always got interesting wants during trades. Kennedy is a lefty who has had success in Colorado but I think we could've put together something that was better. For all we know Cashman could've offered a deal that on paper was better then the Rockies but Beane being the self proclaimed genius could've taken the seemingly less attractive deal. |

Wo wo wo... Joe Kennedy is a borderline MLB Starter..and Witasick is Garbaaaage..... Byrnes was waiting to be had for quite sometime...a perfect fit for NYC...as was Kotsay... Now, we'll wind up with a borderline player like Peyton...if we're lucky. |

I would have taken him for defense, but Byrnes is a .270-20-70 guy. He's not a stud offensive player by any means. Take him over Paycrap of course. |

This also doesn't mean Colorado is keeping him either. They would be just as wise to have someone (hopefully not us) overpay for him. |

What are you talking about. We do NOT have a Joe Kennedy. Last year as a 25 year old lefty he pitched to a 9-7 record with a 3.66 era. Thats the best Rockies season ever, and don't give me Pedro Astacio. This year the Park cought up to him and he developed alot of bad habits. It may take half a year for him to work the kinks out, but don't kid yourself, this was a STEAL for Beane. Byrnes is an average to slightly above average hitter with OVERRATED deffense. He gets all these accolades because he jumps around like a maniac. EVERYBODY in baseball is better than Tony Womack. I'm tired of hearing that as a reason for wanting to overpay for everybody. You just don't go and trade a 25 year old lefty starter with that kind of stuff and a reliever with an era under 3 for a guy like Erik Byrnes. The only reason Colorado gets away with making a trade like this is because he will hit like .285 there and good pitchers are useless for that team. PS-Yes I know we all hate Jay Whitasick, but he isn't sucking right now, and likely won't for Oakland. |

Cashman dropped the scoop of ice cream on this one. It seems like the Yanks are always the bridesmaid and never the bride when it comes to getting who we want. |

I agree. Pitching is the thing to worry about, not CF right now. |
