And that's if we actually get there. I'm still not sold on this team being more than an 85-88 win team, and I doubt that is enough to get in. It certainly won't be enough to win the AL East.

Its not "Javy arm" or "Mangina", he's just trash. The guy is a pussy who had one good year in the NL, it was his walk year, and the #s weren't even that impressive. f*cking fat aunt Maria could strike out 130 in the YMCA league. I never wanted that bitch and I can proudly say that I've hated him from the get-go.

The #45 who we should've signed, but didn't, is playing over in Queens. :wall: And I don't care what anybody says, Pedro would've been a great fit as a Yankee. I would've gladly bought a Pedro Martinez jersey.

I've watched Pedro this year with the Mets and he has surprised me. He doesn’t consistently have the great fastball anymore. But he has a great curve and changeup that he mixes in with a 90 mph fastball that keeps the hitters off balance. When he has to he can reach back and get it up there at 96 mph. His location is outstanding. He hits his spots almost all the time. He is also smiling all the time, he works with the younger pitchers, talks to them during the game and you can see him in the dugout working with different grips on the ball like he is looking for more pitches to offset his decline in velocity. The Sox were crazy to let him walk.

Well, he had a 3.90 ERA in what we considered a TERRIBLE season. Carl Pavano would trade his nutsack (if he had one) for that kind of year.

You think Carl "f*cking" Pavano was better suited to handle the AL East? Are you serious? Martinez had dominated the American League for years and an argument could be made that he was the most dominant pitcher ever. Pavano sucked in the Nation League for years and had 1 good season in his walk year. And it wasn't even that impressive. Wake up.

It was Unit or Pedro, not Pavano or Pedro.

I consider it Pavano and Wright over Pedro. Martinez got about $13-14M per while Pavano got $9-10M and Wright got $7M. Two pieces of sh*t is not equal to 1 gold nugget.

That's what I (and Da Boyz) wanted. The way they did it turned out just fine, didn't it MM? And like I said, 10 + 7 = 17......Pedro is getting $13M. If you can afford Pavano and Wright, you could have afforded Martinez. There would have been the need for another starter (we didn't know about Wang then), but with $4M still left from the money saved on those 2, you could add that with some more and pick up "someone" for the 5th starter. And retrospect says that since we did get Wang, the rotation would be: Johnson/Martinez/Mussina/Brown/Wang and "someone" would have been subbing when Brown was out.

And before you say, "Pedro is on the decline and is always an injury risk," I know. I was saying that in the off season. He wasn't the ideal and I wouldn't have wanted to give him a 4 year contract. But he was much closer to the ideal than either Pavano (Pussy) or Wright, with his 9.15 ERA.

Signing Pavano was a no brainer. Alot of other teams (including Boston) were all over him, so we can't blame Cashman for him. He just turned out to be a soft l. :no1:

He can still turn it around this year - and he might.

Why does the fact that other people want someone mean its a no-brainer? A lot of people think Adrian Brody is sexy (he was top 20 on VH1), it doesn't mean he's sexy. We gave Contreras extra because Boston was all over him and that was part of the reason we had a boner for him. Cuz Boston wanted him.

Pavano had a sub-.500 record and a 4+ ERA in the National League. He had 1 good season, in his walk year. And the thing I kept mentioning was the 139 strikeouts. I know he's not a K pitcher, but in the NL, you expect to see more. What that said was "not dominant". And he played in a (hate to recycle material) vast Kentucky prairie. Looking at the career numbers (number of strikeouts, opponents batting average, and seasons with ERAs under 4) and factoring where they played (Wrigley vs. The Florida Rain Stadium), Clement (not that I wanted him) was actually less of a risk than Pavano.

Pavano is a gutless Soft L, not a chance that loser turns it around. He's this year's Javy Vazquez. The guy was always a loser in the NL, except for one year, and he's going to be a loser in the AL for at least 4 years. After him, I'm done with pitchers from the NL, I don't care if they're supposed to be good, young pitchers, like Burnett, I really want no part of these guys on the Yankees any more.

We had the bats, but our guys were gutless pukes. Besides, I don't care what that LOSER Pavano did in the '03 WS, he is stinking up the joint for us. He can f*ck himself. He had ONE good year in 6 in the NL, we should've stayed away from him.
