After the 2000 season Fred Tampon was in a position to build from there and guarantee the Mets would always be a post season contender. But unlike George Steinbrenner who puts the revenue the team earns back into the team Mr. Tampon chose to rape the team and the fans and put the money in his pocket. With what seemed like extreme prejudice they insulted and then dismissed A-Rod who wanted to be a Met. In spring training they refused a trade with the Dodgers that would have brought them Gary Sheffield for Jay Payton. It was the year that the Mets made the incredible trade for Mo Vaughn, These moves impacted the next four years. Most of ithe blame is on Mr. Tampon being a horse manure owner. In spite of what he did during the past off-season Mr. Tampon is a a pure piece of sh*t. I am just hoping that this ass wipe of an owner does not return to his parsimonious past self and once again rape the ball team. As long as this guy owns the team I have doubts as to whether the Mets will ever become any where near the team they were in the 1980’s. The Mets and the Met fans deserve better. |

Let's not bring back old sh*t, that's in the past, it's time to move on, this team and organization is going in the right direction, it just takes time, we have to be patient!!! |

The club is where it is because of those moves back then. This club still has the same owner so nothing has changed unless Tampon changes. You sound like a Chicago Cubs fan. Every year has been wonderful with a new direction since 1908. |

Wilpon has changed, he signed beltran and pedro last offseason remember and he was close to signing delgado, Fred is trying to win and he's spending the money. Even back in 2002 he was spending the money but he spent it wrongly, blame the mets front office for that one, the mets as an organization have to start making the right decisions, money has nothing to do with it!!! |

I agree with Justin, its time to move on, give it up. We never got A-Rod and we never got Sheff, so lets not cry over sh*t that never happened, look to the future. The Red Sox did for 86 years |

 Also the mets signed the best 2 free agents on the market in the offseason so to complain about them not spending money and not going in the right direction is pure silliness!!! |

Tampon spends and then he retrenches. He has done this more then a few times. Whenever he thinks he can draw the fans without spending money he will. If it wasn’t for the Kazmir trade and the outcry and the people blasting his son Jeff, there would not be an Omar with the freedom to spend. My question is will Fred continue to be the new Fred or will he continue his pattern. A-Rod, Sheff and Kazmir are not the issue, the owner is. |

No he hasn't. Kaz Matsui and Kaz Ishii are still on the team for strictly marketing purposes. Whenever a roster spot opens, it always goes to some useless veteran because the organization doesn't want the money they spent on these vets to be wasted. Fran Healy is still in the booth speaking crap every game. Wilpon needs to go. The Beltran and Pedro signings were done as appeasement mainly because of how badly the Mets have screwed up the last few years under Wilpon's supervision. It's going to take more than that to appease me. We're still a last place team and we aren't improving because we aren't playing our youth (save Wright, Reyes). |

WRONG, Kaz Ishii is still in the rotation cause Willie doesn't like Heilman, Matsui was starting less and less before he got injured, they aren't going to release him when he still has another year left on his contract. Again to complain about Wilpon is just stupid, this past offseason he spent crazy money and improved the team, what else do you want the guy to do, he's doing everything right this year!!! |

You must be high... The only reason Ishii is still in the rotation is cuz the Mets are hoping someone stupid shmuck will take him after one good start |

One offseason of good decisions don't make up for the several years of absolutely stupid decisions. Let's see 3 years of good decisions and then get back to me. Why not release Matsui if you don't think he's good enough? A team that pays $100 million for one player in the offseason can't just turn around and say Matsui is too expensive to buyout. |

NO NO NO, Willie likes heilman pitching in the 7th inning since he doesn't trust anyone else in the bullpen to pitch in that inning, i still think he doesn't like Heilman for whatever reason. Anyway that's why Ishii is still in the rotation, either way don't expect him in the rotation for long, Trachsel will be back soon!!! |

This is what bothers me about Fred and Jeff Tampon. An allegory. A Scorpion (represents Fred and Jeff Tampon) has to cross a stream. So it approaches a Turtle (Met fans) and asks if it could ride on the turtles back to cross the stream. The turtle replies that it is normally helpful but if it lets the scorpion get on its back the scorpion will sting it and it will surely die. The scorpion replied that it would be foolish to do so because if that happened the scorpion would drown and also die. The turtle agreed and allowed the scorpion to hop on its back. Half way across the stream the scorpion stung the turtle. The turtle said “I am dieing and now you will drown and die too. Why did you do it?” The scorpion replied “It’s my nature.” BTW you could also say the turtle represents the Met fans and the scorpion the Yankee fans. |
