That's bullsh*t. You rip on him if he hits one out when they're up 10-1. Now they're down 3 runs with 2 innings to go, he gets one back, and you still rip on him? He just did his share. Now lets see everyone else chip in and lead a comeback. Probably not happening, but not Jorge's fault in this case. |

I'm not ripping. I'm just being sarcastically happy. Can't knock the man for hitting a homerun. He chipped 1 off the lead. But they're still gonna lose. |

Posada doesn't touch that pitch if the score is tied or the Yanks were down by 1. |

Not in that case because nobody was on base. Had Tino reached 1st then I agree, a sure doubleplay. Score is 3-2 Cards in that spot, Jorge swings and misses at strike 3 in the dirt. |

The object is to get the guy out without getting yourself killed! This isn't football, there isn't supposed to be contact every home plate play. Is it necessary at times, absolutely, but if you can accomplish an out without getting yourself killed, more power to ya, and you feel a hell of alot better next day! |

I can see we will battle this one out till he retires, then he will be thought of in Phil Simms terms. Underappreciated till he isn't on the field anymore, and we have some scrub grounding out to the shortstop with a .230 avg. |

And I'll be hating on the .230 loser too. Don't think I'll start appreciating it more because its gone and I'm seeing worse crap. Its the same thing I think when Giants fans say they liked Kerry Collins because the pieces of sh*t that preceded him sucked worse. All that means to me is they ALL sucked. If Eli throws 30 interceptions this season, I'll still hate Collins as much as I do now. btw - Simms is overrated. He was nothing more than alright QB. And before you say it, I'll get it out: 22/25 with 3 TDs in the Super Bowl.....Nothing more than an alright QB. |

Don't you agree he was a good leader on the field for that team as well? I think Phil Simms was much more than alright, my friend. Don't forget he played 8 games a year in a wind tunnell known as Giants stadium! No qb has been able to light it up unbelievably on a regular basis there. Its just not a good stadium to light it up offensively. ........I get your point though.....unless it was Bench, or Yogi himself behind the plate for us, you'd have a problem with it! |

Whatever. You never saw him play. He's not overrated. He's not in the Hall of Fame or anything. The Giants didn't have a big-time passing attack under Parcells. They pounded the ball with Morris and OJ. |

Not entirely true. When the Giants had to throw the ball before they got Morris, Simms threw for over 4,000 yards in 1984. I'd agree, his stats look average, but anybody who watched him week after week knows otherwise. |

You got my point though. His overall career numbers were held back because they had a running attack for a large part of his stint as QB. NOBODY that watched him play would ever call him overrated. Simms was a perfect fit for the Giants. |

I'll say this. If Jim Kelly is in the Hall of Fame, so should Phil Simms. He did everything that was asked of him. He was a winner. When Ray Handley picked Hostetler to start over Simms in 91-92, that's when the Giants plummet into mediocrity started. Simms last season, they were a 10-6, 11-5 team. Of course, the Giants got our balls beat in by a Super Bowl caliber my Niners team, but the Giants were still winners. After he retired, the Giants became mediocre again. Not a coincidence. |

I'll just say one phrase, and the Giants fans will know what it means and how it defines Simms. Fourth and 17. |

To be fair, Giant fans must admit that Simms couldn't hold a candle to Joe Montana. |

Montana is a legend. Nobody would argue Simms was better than him. |
