I'd love for Jeter to go nuts on Giambi right in front of everyone on the field, taking a page out of Giambi's book when he went off on Tejada, who is 100 times the player he is now. |

Jeter has no room to talk, he's been as bad as anybody, especially the last few weeks, his average has dropped from .330 to the .280, he can shut up too. Everybody on this team SUCKS right now, not anyone person can take the blame. These guys just need to come together and discuss things behind close doors and try to right this ship, but I don't it will work since it was all ready tried once. What we've in these 60 games is what we'll get the rest of this year with this group of bitches. We NEED a f*cking firesale, get rid of all the bad contracts so we can have an easier time re-tooling in the offseason. At this point, I just can't wait for the season to end. |

Short of punching someone out, what can he really do? How can he lead when the manager doesn't even put the best team on the field? |

Derek Jeter, 10 year Yankee plus time in the minors, 4 rings, .315 career average as a Yankee, has no right to rip apart Jason Giambi, biggest waste of Yankee money ever? Jeter is not playing well right now, but I beg to differ on that line of thinking. |

Jeter and the rest of the Yankees can kiss mya ss right now. Tell Danica to start playing like a captain before he can rip ANYONE on this team. |

I agree! Everyone seems to forget the guy has been physically beaten up for the last 3 weeks too. |

My thinking is the whole team is playing bad right now, and Jeter has no room to criticize anybody because he hasn't done anything to help turn it around. They all just need to find a way to come together and get this turned around. And Joe needs to start putting the best team on the field. We do not have our best team with Giambi out there. |

Well I do agree with you in principal. The one part I differ with you on is Jeter is the captain and leader no matter how he is hitting. He's the guy people respect in that clubhouse. If he wants to rip on the team, he has earned the right. He does need to start hitting better though too, I agree. |

I also have to wonder how much respect some of these guys REALLY have for Jeter. I mean, he all ready had one team meeting, they just don't seem to be responding. I know Jeter has the respect of some guys in the clubhouse, but guys like Giambi, Womack, Sanchez, Randy Johnson, Mussina, Sheff, etc seem to be the type who only care about the pay check, nothing else. I know Sheff says in public that he respects Jeter, but that guy has never met a camera he doesn't like and will say anything to get on tv. |

I don't buy it. Jeter is one of the most respected players in the game by not only teammates, but opponents. Even the Red Sox go out of their way to praise him. |

Maybe they do, but I don't know, I still say most of these guys are here just for the check and nothing more. Bottomline is, they're not playing good, and I don't think there is anything Jeter can say to change it. I guess it would be entertaining to see him rip Giambi in the dugout for everybody to see, but I'd just like to see everybody pick up their level of play before calling each other out on anything. |

I agree some players are more into it for the money, but I think even they respect Jeter for what he is-- a guy who gives his all on every play, whether he's playing well or not, whether the Yankees are winning or not. |

Nobody listens to Danica anymore. These aren't your older brothers' Yanks anymore. They just ignore him. If Jeter wants an audience that'll listen, he should pay Scott Brosius a visit in McMinville. Remember Danica was the one who was laughing like a girl scout with A-Rod while his team was fighting on the field. Thank god this man called him out on it Posted Image |

I didn't see most of the game earlier, but I'm watching the tape now. That fu<king 3rd inning was just replayed. Wow. I'm glad to see Jeter was pissed. Hopefully he flipped out after the game. I hope that's the big story tmrw. BTW - I agree with Justice 100%. "Furniture needs to be moved." |

But save the vase. That was expensive! Mussina bought it on his trip to Indonesia. Haven't they had 3 or 4 team meetings already? I think what would help more than a locker room outburst is to embarass guys on TV. Get in people's faces in the dugout. Go after any and everybody who is responsible. I'd have been under Sheffield's skin like a catheter. And I'd hold myself accountable too. He hasn't done sh*t to help right the ship either. He's been slumping with the team. I'm not in the locker room, but I don't think this team has a leader. I think Jeter being Captain is just a gift from Steinbrenner in recognizing that he's accomplished a lot and is the face of the team. But I don't see him as a true leader. To me, Jeter is more the "Get Along" guy. He's cool with them and tries to lead by example. But a leader is the guy who rallies the troops and gets in people's asses when he has to AND does it on the field. He's not doing it on the field and I don't think he's the vocal guy. I think A-Rod could be the leader, but for a number of reasons, he isn't and would be reluctant to go for it. |
