I have to put a players career aside when it comes to coaching. I LOVE Donnie when he wore those pinstripes as a player, but a CHANGE is needed throughout the whole coaching staff, nobody is excluded!

Changing the hitting coach will not change one single solitary thing.

Firing a beloved Yankee ala Yogi in '85 sends a message.

The funny thing is that I believe you realize everything you say is nonsense.

I was having a similar discussion with my friends about firing people. It won't change a damn thing. Firing people doesn't increase one's talent. They'll be overpaid underachievers with or without a new manager.

Doesn't change the fact that someone has to take the fall, and you can't fire players. Changes have to be made!

I remember Donny crying like a little girl when Yogi was fired. Now it's Mattingly's turn to get the axe.

You'd have to look far and wide to find a worse hard luck loser than Don "NOT A HOF'er" Mattingly. Maybe say like Don Maloney, both were always a day late and a dollar short.

Oh, you're a New York Rangers fan? I only saw Yankees, Cowboys, and Clemson football mentioned earlier. I would have never pegged you for a Rangers fan.

What are ya'll saying? The man roots for who he roots for. That's not a crime. There's plenty of people who like the same teams he does.

He's Vinnie's co-worker and he's new here. He might be turned off of this place with you guys acting shady. <_<

The only message firing Mattingly will send is that players will not be held accountable for their bad play. You want to send a message? Release Quantril, Groom, and Giambi, and end Matsui's little streak all on the same day. That is a straight foward message that this sh*t will not fly.

Well thought and worded post. I was thinking along the same lines. This crap needs to be held accountable, and needs to realize NO ONE is irreplaceable!

Bottom line is you can't fire the players, PERIOD! A message had to be sent and throughout the history of sports this is how you send it. Sometimes it works (Bob Lemon) sometimes it doesn't (Chris Jent) either way it has to be done.
