I'd rather see a professional hitter up instead of a .022 pitcher. Its a waste of an out. It contradicts the object of offense. Why, by design, is there an automatic out in the lineup? The best offensive pitchers are like .220 career hitters (Dontrelle and Hampton). What's the point? Every other league on earth seems to think that it makes no sense. |

the nl requires small ball to be played at the bottom of the lineup... requires some strategy... whether or not to walk the 8th hitter to face the pitcher, pitcher bunts or swings away... theres a lot more strategy required in nl ball |
