To show you how little Sid Rosenburger know, on FAN he said we gotta trade Cano and Wang for Zito.

Francesa is a Yankee fan and he said he would too. At least Rosenberg is a Met fan.

I'd consider it.

I'm sorry. What was I thinking.

We'll just send Giambi to the Twins for Santana, and then we'll send Brown to the Blue Jays for Halliday.

Do it Cashman. It you don't you're a soft L, and you probably eat ice cream too!

I didn't go making any ridiculous trade ideas, that I know wouldn't happen. But it's not even worth it to consider Zito, the guy sucks, and he's pitching in Oakland. Let him stay there. If we're giving up Cano AND Duncan, I want somebody better than Zito.

I don't understand the infatuation with Zito. The guy just sucks. We always complain about pitchers coming here and becoming soft L's. I can guarantee you Zito would become a soft L when he first puts on a Yankee hat. Then again, we thought RJ would dominate. Maybe Zito would surprise everyone.

Everybody is looking for pitching because its not out there anymore. You have to overpay to get it.

Yes, lets overpay for a guy who can't make it in Oakland, he's sure to be a success here and he's just the guy to put us over the top!

Mark my words: He'll be the best starter traded during the season this year.

He'd be another Pavano/Johnson/Vazquez/Weaver/Contreras/Irabu/etc/etc/etc.

:laugh2:

He's not better than Clemens, who WILL be traded this season.

If Clemens is traded you'll be correct. If that doesn't happen, then who available is better than Zito?

:please: We already have good and plenty of the get yer hopes up then let ya down type pitchers.

I guarantee a head case like Zito would have Weaver/Mussina fragile psyche syndrome. On a good day, he'd give up 6 runs in 4 innings and blame the weather or what he had to eat.

Zito can still turn it around, or he could continue to slide. He was great in the past and he's only 27, but it's not a lock, and therefore not worth trading your only young players left in a season they probably won't win anyway. If he turns it around, sign him as a 29 year old free agent in a little over a year and a half without giving up your only young players.

I don't know, there's always a surprise move or two at the deadline. But even if you are right, and Clemens isn't moved and Zito is the best pitcher traded this season, that doesn't make him good.

I said it last year when there were rumors of him coming here, and I stand by it, I don't want this guy any where near the mound at Yankee Stadium unless it's in a visitor's uniform.

He's lost life on his fastball though, and that curveball isn't exactly what it used to be. I don't think I can see this guy being more than a number 4 on a championship caliber pitching staff again.

He might have already turned it around. He had a sh*t April, then a very good May (3.49 ERA), and was excellent in his one start so far in June.

Need more than a one month sampling to say he's "turned it around." If he was still the Cy Young caliber pitcher he was at one time, I'd do this trade in a New York minute. Problem is, there is no guarantee with this guy, and he's not worth two of our prospects, let alone 3 or 4, which is probably what Oakland would ask for.

That's why I used the word "might".

(1) I've never liked Zito (even when he won the Cy Young - ask Amit) and I damn sure don't like him now. If there's ever been a player designed to fail in New York, its Barry Zito. He's Bill Lee with an infatuation for stuffed animals instead of weed. He's into all kinds of goofy bullsh*t. That crap flies in California, it wouldn't here. We'd probably tolerate it if he were pitching to a 3.20 ERA, but that wouldn't happen. He's on a team in a ballpark in a town in a state where there's little to no pressure.....and he still sucks. We'd hate him after 2 starts. (2) His stuff is overrated. I'm no expert but I'm usually dead-on with this. He's Tom Glavine with a rollercoaster curveball and less control. He throws an 87 mph fastball with no movement and he relies on the curve to move like a semi-Eephus pitch. Seriously, El Duque has more stuff than him. I thought that even during the 2002 and now he's being exposed. That's the guy they think can right the ship and lead this team somewhere? (3) We're gonna trade Wang and Cano for him? That might be as stupid as Ira from Brooklyn's idea to put Sierra in CF. Right now, Wang alone is worth more than Barry Zito. Let that knucklehead go play his guitar, eat ice cream in the park, do Yoga, and snuggle with his pink teddy bear in Oakland. :fyou:

I'd only take Zito if we trade him for Giambi, Stanton, and Quantrill.

Good idea. The way he's sucked, Oakland should want that trade.

I'd consider it.

By the way, Mike also said you start the deal with Cano and Wang, plus let the A's have any other minor leaguers, which would mean someone like Philip Hughes (available a year after he signed) or Eric Duncan too. No thanks.

Francessa is a fool.

Francesa is a clueless ass! Why in the world would we give that much up. We make an offer, they take what we want to give them, or they lose him to us in a year anyway if he continues to improve. As I said earlier, I'd love to get Byrnes in the deal as well, and he walks at the end of this season, so Sid and Fatso can go suck it! They need to do some research before they go making f*ckin stupid comments! Several of you guys would run circles around them with what you know about baseball. Its easy to sound smart when you have flunkies doing your research in a studio! I'm really disgusted with Fatso since Yes went on the air. As much as he does know about the Yankees, he's been proven to be as clueless as Torre at times, and the aura he had on the radio when it came to all things Yankee is gone!

I still think they are making the playoffs. People forget there is still almost 70% of the season yet to be played!

The Orioles are going nowhere. After the HORRIBLE baseball the Yanks have played, they are only 3 games back of the Red Sox with what, 66, 67% of the season to be played. There is a TON of baseball left to be played. I don't see where all this giving up business is coming from.

They shall overcome. I think they will make another deal that will cost us in the future. Gotta pay the cost to be the boss.
