If you were to map the personality of a baseball team from its ownership, to on the field personnel to fans into the real world what would you have? For example I think if you map the Yankees into the real world they are the CEO at Enron that screwed all the workers and stole their money and didn’t give a sh*t about any of them. The music they would represent would be Frank Sinatra. The Mets OTOH would represent all the Enron employees who were destroyed by the Enron bosses and the music they would represent would be rock’n’roll say U2.

:furious2: Extreme silliness :furious2:

The Yankees have not cheated anyone. They have played 100% within rules that were specifically implemented to screw them. All the extra money that they must pay directly helps the little guys, as does the huge gates that they draw everywhere they play. In contrast, Enron management broke the law and are nothing more than criminals. <_<

Let's not make it just a Mets, Yankee thing pick some other team like the Bosox, Braves, Marlins, etc. How do you think they would map? I would map the Bosox the same way as the Yankees, but whereas the Yankees are totally commited to winning and being the best team they can be, the owner of the Bosox thinks more of putting money in his own pocket. So the Redsox would be more like a Corporate Raider type.

BTW This is not to be taken seriously. LOL

Steinbrenner = Bill Gates
The Yankees = Microsoft
Every other team = the bitches who were complaining in 2000 about Microsoft monopolizing the industry with Windows.

Great analogy. Microsoft played within the rules (bent them a few times, but so does everybody). I have told a number of software engineers who are Yankee fans and hate Bill Gates that they are being hypocritical. If you don't like what Gates is doing in software then you can't like what George is doing in baseball. However, if they were a MS shareholder they might think differently. It is a form of jealousy when it comes to Gates as it is to the fans of other teams when it comes to the Yankees. The major difference is this. MS puts all the other software companies out of business MS becomes even more powerful. It is important for a baseball owner to keep the other teams healthy because no one will come to watch intra squad games.
