Minaya looking into karsay situation

Quote:

Speaking of the bullpen,

Minaya said the Mets are considering picking up Queens native Steve Karsay, who was released Thursday by the Yankees. Minaya said he has not been contacted by Karsay's agent, but had read in the newspapers that Karsay has teams interested in him.

Karsay was 0-0 with a 6.00 ERA this season for the Yankees after missing most of last season following shoulder surgery in 2003.

There is a reason why the Yankees with a bad bullpen paid him $7 mil just to get him off the team.

Yeah. They had to call up Cano and didn't have the time to wait around on pitchers who weren't producing. There's a reason the Yanks signed him to such an outrageous contract. If the price is right, we have nothing to lose on taking a chance on him.

Well that definitely wasn't my point.

I'm sorry but i wouldn't touch karsay, also i like what the mets have going with bell, hernandez and looper, hopefully strickland decides to stay and he can soon take over dejean's role, whatever that may be!!!

That's what I was trying to say. I thought that was understandable.

Honestly, I fail to see what the problem is with taking a chance on a player that has good stuff, and has been good in the past. If we can take a chance on a 40 year old Hernandez, why not on someone with similar potential?

I personally just don't like him, i think he sucks but if the mets want to take a chance on him then fine!!!
