pretty soon ishii will be healthy as will strickland and later on heredia.

1st thing is first, swap koo with ring, im sure koo has options
2nd thing cut aybar or ask him to get demoted
3rd thing put ishii in long relief and as a spot starter whenever pedro needs 5 days and no other pitcher is ready, possibly as a lefty specialist once in a while
4th thing cut heredia/aybar, bring up strickland

suggestions?

And with Bob Keppel and Neal Musser each being placed on the DL for Norfolk tonight, they are now 2 starting pitchers short. Bannister could be promoted to AAA, but they may need him down there with Deaton heading to the DL with a back injury now. With Ishii coming back, it now seems likely that Heilman could be heading to AAA to help out their rotation after hearing what Willie said tonight.

Damn it. Seo and Heilman end up going back to the minors, and the people that really deserve it (Zambrano, Koo, Aybar, Ishii, etc etc) get to stay in the majors and f*ck up the team.

There's no justice.

That's what should happen but the mets aren't going to do that, it sucks that heilman will eventually be in norfolk shortly!!!

Here's what the Mets should do:
1) Send down Diaz and call up Strickland. Diaz is not going to get better without a definitive role.
2) Let Cameron play and up his trade value. Then trade him when his trade value peaks. Diaz is the RFer of the future.
3) Trade Zambrano to the highest bidder. We know he sucks, but some other team might not.
4) Put Ishii back into the rotation until the All-Star break when Trax gets back. Then trade or injure Ishii. Historically Ishii only pitches good first halfs, so it makes sense to get as much out of him as we can.
-----------------------------

Realistically only 1 and 2 have a chance of happening. Wilpon would rather die than admit failure with Zambrano, and Ishii will take Heilman's spot in the rotation. We will struggle to be a .500 ballclub and we will fail to develop youngsters like Heilman and Diaz. Autonomy my a$$. Minaya has his hands tied by Wilpon.

For the bullpen, I'd also release Aybar or Koo to recall Seo (long relief) and Ring (lefty specialist) and develop him, but the Mets like to be stubborn.

Strickland faced 4 batters last night, didn't retire 1. He allowed 3 hits and 1BB, 1R and took the loss.

Mets AAA manager Ken Oberkfell was just WFAN with Sid and Joe a few minutes ago. This is what he said about some of his players.

Ring - Probably not closer material. He's more a situational lefty.

Keppinger - Professional ballplayer. Excellent #2 hitter.

Scobie - Not the best stuff, but finds ways to win.

Strickland - Not ready for ML yet. Has only pitched back to back games once.

Daubach and DiFelice - ready for call-ups should opportunity arise.

Pagan - Will be good ML lead-off hitter in 2-3 years.

Seo - Has finally learned how to put hitters away.

We don't have to let him go. Strickland can decide to stay. It's up to Strickland to force the Mets issue, not the other way around.

Daubach is a solid major league hitter. He can replace Valent very easily.

No, I mean I hope that we don't create slots for those two players, Daubach and DeFelice.

Daubach is really a first baseman, right? And DeFelice is a catcher. Hopefully we don't have openings for those positions on the Mets anytime soon.
