I know its been brought up, but you guys gotta be realistic. Joe has been manager for 10 years now, and Rivera has been on each of those, a solid 8 1/2 of them dominant. We've all seen how Joe over-uses guys he trusts in the pen. It happened to Quantrill last year, its why Nelson got alot of innings his 2nd time around, its probably why Stanton will see alot of time against lefties. There is no way Torre is going to think about anyone other than Rivera in the 9th. I'm hope this doesn't turn into a complete bash of Torre, I'm just saying the odds of Joe putting in a Gordon or F-Rod in the 9th over Rivera are about as good as Bubba Crosby hitting more HR's then Sheffield. Rivera will be out there in a 2-1 game against anyone, regardless of his past history. I think alot of it stems from pitching against Boston so much the past 2 years. Including this year we've faced Boston 55 times the since 2003. And most of them have been close involving Rivera. It was only a matter of time before they started catching on the the cutter. So in my opinion its not worth the effort typing "use someone else in the 9th, keep Rivera in the bullpen" because its just not going to happen. Torre will always stick with his guys, just like he did keeping Jeter at the top of the order last year when he was hitting like crap through May. Its how he's gotten the respect of his players and for better or worse thats how it is and all we can do is hope Rivera figures something out or we win by 4 or more runs because his success is what will make or break this team come crunch time. |

We know it's not gonna happen. People are just sick of seeing Mo hand Boston games. Though A-Rod helped him tremendously today. |

:please: If it's 9th inning, one run lead, 7th game against Boston, I could definitely see Joe surprising with RJ. |

:please: He might just do it THAT ONE TIME. Arizona did it in the world series with us and they won the series. You know in the back of his mind Torre remembers that... :peace: |

Kim isn't Rivera. And the D-backs were losing at the time. It's a totally different situation. |

plus, johnson was throwing low 90s, high 80s. he wasn't really sharp. our offense was just dreadful that year. i'm not a fan of using rj to close unless he's had at least a few days to rest. |
