We won't be getting any of these guys. It's nice to think the Yankees would do something, but they won't. |

What would be the point to these trades? You think Torre is going to go with Ricardo Rincon in the 9th over Mariano!? |

I'm surprised nobody has rushed in and said, "Arthur Rhodes? Death to you and your first born!" Its good to throw names out and think and wish a little, but its less likely than what I suggested in my signature. |

no, the point is none of our relievers match up well with the red sox. i was just looking up if there are any guys out there that actually know how to get out some of them. as a yankee fan, it's hard for me not to be impressed with a guy that gets ortiz out 15 out of 16 times in his career. |

Rincon and Ortiz used to face each other all the time in the Central. Do you think the David Ortiz of the Twins facing the Ricardo Rincon of the Indians is applicable to the David Ortiz of the Red Sox? They're like two different players. Ortiz is the Yankees' new Edgar Martinez. He might still be able to get him out more times than not, but I don't buy much into the 1 for 16 career numbers. |

absolutely, you're right. but we have to start somewhere. those splits are pretty impressive, and you know rincon will be available, since oakland squeezes the sh*t out of the nickel. they don't want to have a pay a guy anything if they help it. not sure we have low-level prospects to give though |

I know!! :thumbup2: Arthur Rhodes is NOT the answer either. Last year he tried to be the closer for the A's and how did that experiment turn out? He was garbage and they eventually traded for Dotel. He's a better setup man than he would be a closer. Rincon is a good setup man too, but he's no closer either. That's why set up men are set up men. Rivera is our closer and the many people who are upset like myself after the blown saves and who want him gone will have to deal with it. The bottom line is that he's just going to have to fight through this slump!! He's going to have to be able to take care of the Bastan lineup like he did for three innings in the '03 ALCS!! That's the form he needs to revert into once more!! |

Let's see what we got first in our bullpen before we go trading away everyone in it!! I think Torre used most of the same relievers in our bullpen in this series: Sturtze, Gordon and Rivera. He didn't use Karsay or Quantrill. Next week the Yankee relief core will get another chance to match up with Bastan's offense. Hopefully Rivera and others can give our fans the confidence that they can get the job done in a key situation and possibly take away some of the doubt we have of them now!! |

I think he meant the A's traded for Dotel to replace an ineffective Rhodes as closer last season, not that Rhodes was traded for Dotel this past offseason. |
