Blue Jays release RHP Koch

March 17, 2005
DUNEDIN, Florida (Ticker) - Billy Koch needed just four spring training appearances to convince the Toronto Blue Jays they made a mistake.

On Thursday, the Blue Jays released the 30-year-old Koch, who was signed to a one-year contract worth $900,000 in January.

In his last outing with the club, Koch worked one inning, allowing a run and two hits and hitting a batter, in a Grapefruit League game against the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday.

Give it a shot. Sign him to a minor league contract. He's only 30 and except for "Tiger" Wang, he's better than anything we got down there (which shows you how much our minor league farm system sucks :crazy2: )

You'll change your tune after a few injuries when we're forced to bring Graman in as an emergency reliever. :peace:

No, I won't. They're are guys out there that could probably be picked up that I would trust more than Koch.

The Mets should be all over him. I'd be surprised if they're not.

that wouldn't be such a bad signing by the Yankees, ofocurse not for the Majors but for the minors. If not, then the Mets are the best bet. I mean hes only 30, has a few more years ahead of him....

I completely agree with you YB. It never hurts to sign shitbags who were once good, especially when they're still young. Usually it doesn't work out. But sometimes they become 04 El Duques. Because they're so cheap it can never hurt.
