Because these are the Mets. They're just like the Knicks and Rangers. You know they're sh!t. But then they start winning. So you go check out a game, and then you realize that they are in fact sh!t. Here's hoping this year is different. We actually have a superstar with our payroll and a rotation that is up there with the best of them. I'm thinking a little over .500 and in the playoffs. 100 wins is too much given last year's 71 win season. 90 wins would be great. I maintain that next year will be the year to look forward to. |

No, if you're a real Mets fan you'd hope for the best, no matter what your gut feelings were. I hate Delgado for his idiocy regarding God Bless America, but I wouldn't hope for him to fail. That's stupid. If he's playing on my favorite team and he has a chance to help, then why would I root against someone? Having a gut feeling that someone's gonna fail, and actually rooting for them to fail, are two different things. |

That's stupid too! Why wouldn't you just say "Well, I have a feeling that he won't be good, but I'll root for him and hope my gut feeling is wrong." He's a player on your favorite team! Why wouldn't you root for him?! That's ridiculous! |

Rays right. I felt the same way about Delgado in regards with God Bless America. At least stand for it. But thats another story. The point is im willing to look past that if he comes and helps my team. You on the other hand, you, Beltran had to have raped your mother because theres no other explanation. WHy do you hate the guy? Hes a 27 year old superstar thats here to help YOUR favorite team win. Oh im sorry, were supposed to get 31 year olds coming off major knee surgery or a 35 year old scrub whos never played in the playoffs and also cant hit for sh*t? Right. |

whats so funny is that just because the Mets added Pedro and Beltran (and also Doug M. , but thats not the pount), being that they are BIG NAME players and have had good seasons over their carrers, doesnt mean they will automatically have great games as a Met. Just because they are on your team doesnt mean you automatically have a spot in the playoffs. It takes TIME, things dont happen over night. |

Exactly, which is why I expect NEXT year to be the year this team is a legitimate contender. This year, it is essential that we finish over .500 and have a good run at the playoffs to really get the buzz back at Shea. We've made the right moves in that regard. We've dumped dead weight like Leiter and signed players that generate excitement. Then next year the team will have a sense of what it needs to do to win and with the right additions we can be legitimate contenders. That should be the plan. |
