Mark Prior has been shut down today with inflammation of his ulnar nerve. Prior complained of discomfort in his elbow after his start on thursday. He now joins Kerry Wood as injured Cubs aces.

the problem with prior in my estimination is overuse from his 2003 season. dusty baker has no shame in allowing pitchers to go out there and pitch til their arm falls off. prior was injured last year because of overuse in 2003, and there were still lingering issues, which probably is what this is. now im not a doctor, but i find myself putting all the injuries into one boat because i believe it came from overuse by baker. with guys like prior, and the emense value they hold to a team, you have to baby them like the as did with hudson or how the yankees do it. baker's just an idiot that says stupid things, but because people like him as a person, teams are willing to let him destroy young pitchers arms. i would not be surprised to see carlos zambrano breakdown sometime this year as well.

as far as wood is concerned, baker allowed him to throw 150 pitches on complete game years back. real smart, dust
