los angeles angels of anaheim. only reason the of anaheim part exists is since it's in the teams contract with the stadium and the city to keep anaheim in the team name. otherwise, it would just be los angeles angels, since they want to reach a larger fan base with a name like la angels. not that hard |

it really isn't stupid to the angels organization. they know with the talent they have, their recent world series success, and the lack of dodger success, by attaching the los angeles title to their name, which obviously is by far the largest city in the united states, they can take over that market. if they are able to get larger support and revenue from the los angeles name, which is possible, they can up their spending towards yankee territory and it'd be their right to do so. |

Yeah, I'm pretty certain the reasoning behind it isn't stupid. But as a baseball fan on the outside looking at this, it's gay how they change names every two years. L.A., then California, then Anaheim, then back to L.A. But I'm sure they have good reasons. :serious: |

dont recall them ever being the los angeles angels, but im prettu young so i dont know. they switched to anaheim due to an arrangement with the stadium they played in, since anaheim wanted its name attached for publicity. that arrangement apparently is still in place, so they gotta keep anaheim in their title, although they are clearly circumventing it. of anaheim will be gone very soon. i think what people have to realize is that the angels are basically in a position to take over baseball in that market. the mets will never have the opportunity to do that, since the yankees have the history. the dodgers history came from brooklyn, and they have failed to achieve success in a long while , so the angels can clearly become the market for baseball in la. call me dumb, but it doesn't shock me, annoy me, bother me, or anything thing else. its smart |

LOL, ok. I think you're reading too much into my comment. I'm sure they have their reasons for the constant name changes, but it just seems like they've done it a lot, that's all. But I don't think the Angels are going to emerge as a premier Major League organization anytime soon. I just don't see that happening. Call me crazy. And I'm pretty sure that they were the L.A. Angels back before they were California. I could be wrong on that. |

a world series ring three years ago, vladimir guerrero, and the dodgers pissing away their team are telling me the angels can take that market. with that market, comes revenue and the ability to spend. it's easy logic. |

i see the logic from a $$$ standpoint, but they really violated the spirit of their agreement with Anaheim. you can have 100 page contracts signed in triplecet and they aren't worth the paper they're printed on once there's a dollar to be made by weaseling. No honor. <_< |

Area-wise, L.A. - Anaheim - Hollywood is bigger. Population density-wise, NY - NJ - LI is bigger. |

1) Who gives a sh*t what they are called? 2) The Brooklyn Dodgers had a nice run from the late 1940’s till they moved to LA. But they were pure garbage for most of the years before then. They only won one WS and that was in 1955. There was a time they were known as the trolley Dodgers and the Daffy Dodgers so that pretty well describes what they were like. Casey Stengel played for them and once he took his cap off while running the bases and a bird flew out. 3) The LA Dodgers have been very successful up until recently. They had some great players over the years and it will be very hard for the Angels to take the market away from them. |

L.A. county and the surrounding cities (Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Burbank, etc etc) is bigger in area than the NY metro area. But NY has more population density. |

boston just reminds me of a town of people that just need their asses kicked. the fact that they were/are so hate filled towards new york over baseball was nothing short of disgraceful. they should be concerned with real things, not sports |

It is the other way around. NY has more people per square mile, I believe. More population density. |

You just remind me of someone that just needs to shut the f*ck up :-| We dont hate New York. We hate the Yankees and a portion of there fans. Not the city itself or many of the people. Yea , so what, we may like or care about Sports alot more than most citys. Thats the way we wanna be. |
