i like offense. i wont be trading any studs. i think having 3 guys with eras in the 2s last season and two young guys that could have solid seasons, wells and piniero, 9isn't bad enough to trade a stud. i can always pick someone up during the year i assume |

In fantasy baseball pitching and offense are equal in importance if you dont split the stats i guarentee you that you will be a cellar dwellar Think about this trading Sheff and getting two lesser players the two lesser players combined in one night will get you more fantasy stats than just sheff alone Trust me on this :peace: |

where's my credit for getting an offense like that, while also still getting oliver perez, ben sheets, and jake peavy, who are all studs? your making it sound like i don't have pitching. those guys all had eras in the 2s last season and will easily have 200 plus strikeouts a piece this year. geez. don't talk down to me. i know pitching is important. |

i got into a debate with a buddy of mine who is experienced in fantasy baseball. he told me that beltran is basically a fantasy goldmine. so i asked him what about abreu. he said that abreu was nothing compared to beltran, as in real life. that got me a little upset, since i like beltran and all, but hes not better than abreu as a hitter in real life. fantasy wise, i could see since it might overvalue certain stats, like i believe beltran gives 10 or so more steals, although abreu had 41 last season. abreu has completed 8 full seasons, 7 of which he has been a .300 plus hitter. the one year he didn't hit 300, he hit .288 31 hrs 110 rbi 118 r. he says that beltran is younger and has much more upside, but i dont see it that way. abreu is only 31 himself and has had much better seasons, especially when you account thatt kansas city was considered the american league's poor man's answer to coors field. i don't know if these numbers are clear enough to see, but i believe it shows abreu to be the better hitter. 1998 PHI 151 497 68 155 29 6 17 74 84 133 19 10 .312 .409 .497 .906 1999 PHI 152 546 118 183 35 11 20 93 109 113 27 9 .335 .446 .549 .995 2000 PHI 154 576 103 182 42 10 25 79 100 116 28 8 .316 .416 .554 .970 2001 PHI 162 588 118 170 48 4 31 110 106 137 36 14 .289 .393 .543 .936 2002 PHI 157 572 102 176 50 6 20 85 104 117 31 12 .308 .413 .521 .934 2003 PHI 158 577 99 173 35 1 20 101 109 126 22 9 .300 .409 .468 .877 2004 PHI 159 574 118 173 47 1 30 105 127 116 40 5 .301 .428 .544 .971 vs 1999 KC 156 663 112 194 27 7 22 108 46 123 27 8 .293 .337 .454 .791 2000 KC 98 372 49 92 15 4 7 44 35 69 13 0 .247 .309 .366 .675 2001 KC 155 617 106 189 32 12 24 101 52 120 31 1 .306 .362 .514 .876 2002 KC 162 637 114 174 44 7 29 105 71 135 35 7 .273 .346 .501 .847 2003 KC 141 521 102 160 14 10 26 100 72 81 41 4 .307 .389 .522 .911 2004 KC 69 266 51 74 19 2 15 51 37 44 14 3 .278 .367 .534 .901 2004 HOU 90 333 70 86 17 7 23 53 55 57 28 0 .258 .368 .559 .926 im taking abreu if i need a hitter to build around. the biggest difference is the obp. while beltran has a ver nice obp around the .370 and .380 markl, abreu is steadily in the .400s and sometimes ridiculous, .428 last year and .446 in 99. |

well, thanks for conceding that possibility, especially since you have beltran as your sig. that's in fact the argument that bothered me. i know beltran is better all-around, but abreu strikes me as the better hitter, and that was my argument |

no no no, abreu is a better hitter at this point but beltran is a better player, peter i know what you are trying to do, tell me who i'd rather have on my team (fantasy and real life) i'll say beltran, he can do anything on the diamond!!! |

anything except getting an obp steadily in the 400s and being a consistant .300 hitter. |

some person, either guy or girl, dunno, offered me his/her pat burrell and woody williams for my gary sheffield. am i mistaken or did he/she just try to treat me like a complete idiot? i clicked counter proposal and offered my sheffield for his/her pedro martinez, just because i realize i could afford to lose sheff and pedro would add another potential pitcher with a 2 era and 200 strikeouts to my rotation |

well i made a post that i was sick of getting insulting trade offers from this guy, the one who offered burrell and woody williams to me for gary sheffield. now, i cannot believe this, some other player in the league is responding that i overvalue sheffield and my players and that the trade is fair. am i in the motherfning twilight zone. since when does pat burrell lace gary sheffield's jock? ive looked over the stats numerous times and i see no comparison |

the person that offered pat burrell and woody williams for gary sheffield is still talking trash. correct me if im wrong, but doesn't an insulting, bogus trade like that need to be shoved right back in their face? i never done this before, but i assume people that offer bogus trades should be outted as guys trying to cheat teams of players to win. |
