From Newsday:

Yanks to add an outfielder

David Lennon

January 26, 2005

The Yankees have few details to finish before spring training begins in three weeks, and it appears they will sign either Doug Glanville or Tom Goodwin to a minor-league contract to fill the fourth outfielder's role.

With the Yankees uninterested in Carlos Beltran, who is now with the Mets, the club's outfield alignment remained intact this offseason, and either Glanville or Goodwin would provide adequate backup at all three positions.

Glanville, 34, appeared in 87 games for the Phillies last season, batting .210 with two home runs. Goodwin, 36, hit .200 in 77 games for the Cubs.

--------

I said it earlier in the off-season. I would like to see them go after Goodwin. He's still got good speed and is a decent outfielder.

I wouldn't mind Goodwin either because he still provide decent speed off the bench.

We're not gonna win or lose the WS because of our 4th OF. These guys will barely play.

Where's Shinjo now? He's one of the worst hitters I've ever seen, but he had some speed and was an amazing OFer.

Actually he's in Okinawa now, with early spring training. He's still a hotdog, playing to the girl fans and his stylish ways. For some reason he's seems to be one of the fan's favorites.

Oh, brother. <_<

:lmao:

f*ck Bubba and f*ck Glanville and the other guy. Where's my speedy son of a bitch who can pinch run and steal a base? I want Dave Roberts. I want Ugeto. I wanted Chone Figgins from waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back. Ain't no point in having a pinch runner with just decent speed, "Well, he can get to 2nd base a little sooner and try to break up the DP." f*ck that, I want pitchers and catchers sweating. $200M+ payroll and we don't have a cat on the bench who causes perspiration.

We don't need a speedy guy that badly because Joe never pinch runs.

Tino, Giamroid, Posada, Flaherty can all use pinch-runners.

Oh yeah. "Well....you know, ya gotta look ahead. You have to worry about what's next. If we had pinch run for Giambi, we'd have lost him for extra innings."

But hey, he's never had that speedster. Maybe having one would change his mind.

He could have f*cking Lou Brock on the bench and he wouldn't pinch run for them.

My statement had nothing to do with Torre. I'm just saying who should be pinch-run for.
