Uh-huh.

You put the name Jimmy Schlesinger next to .286/36 HR and that's a damn good season. But we can't swap names. Those were Alex Rodriguez's numbers. A-Rod, the $252M man. The man who is paid that much because he's done .358/57/142/40 SB before.

You know that Alejandro is paid more than twice as much as Albert Pujols? So to expect him to produce as much as Pujols, I don't think that we'd be lunatics to think that he owes the fans and the organization that. Honestly, we don't expect that. A-Rod isn't capalbe of doing Bonds/Pujols numbers. But he owes us what he's done before. Hell, the least he owes the organization is to get a SAC fly to drive in an important run from 3B. Hell, even less than that, not chase bad pitches and have an absolute wasted AB.

Rob, one of the reasons that people didn't kill Sheffield as much was because it wasn't same ol' same ol'. For most of the season, he was automatic clutch (joke intended). He was coming through in the big spots and driving in those runs. A-Rod was flailing and failing all year. Also, A-Rod's contract ($252M to Sheff's $40) and status makes people expect more of him.

Plus, Sheff played with one arm attached by duct tape.
