Shouldn't these guys be working on real issues. Full Story BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- North Dakota lawmakers sandwiched some baseball talk with their legal debates, approving a resolution proclaiming that Roger Maris should be in the baseball Hall of Fame. The move came as a veterans' committee considers whether to pick Maris for the Hall. Maris, who grew up in Fargo, ``probably achieved more in baseball with less appreciation from sportswriters and fans than any other player,'' the resolution says. Sponsored by Rep. Andy Maragos, R-Minot, the resolution was approved in the House by a voice vote on Wednesday. The baseball writers' association, which elects players to the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y., never voted Maris into the Hall. Since 1992, he has been eligible for election by a committee of baseball veterans. |

.260/275 HR/851 RBI/.345 OBP/1325 H/826 R in 12 seasons Outsdie of the fact that this is none of their business and it sounds stupid, those numbers aren't Hall of Fame worthy. The only argument they could make for him is, "He deserves to be in there because he's hit the most 'guaranteed legitimate' homeruns in a season." |

You could be right, but Roger Maris dosen't have Hall of Fame numbers. But The Veterans comitee could name Roger Maris to The Hall of Fame, just because He has most Homers per season. |

A lot of guys are in the HOF that shouldn't be. Maris should be based on the fact that he held the HR record for as long as he did, IMO. |

That's a 1 season accomplishment. You don't get to the Hall off one year. There's a whole bunch of players who shouldn't be in there (Scooter) but we don't need another one. Aren't you a longevitiy guy? I remember asking you once if a guy plays only 5 seasons but averages .380/60 HR/140 HR per season, if he should be in the Hall. You said no. |

I guess you haven't heard King, but Maris no longer holds that record. Another great Yankee rightfielder, Raul Mondesi, took the record a few years ago. |

The important thing is that everyone knew what I meant. If you understand it then it doesn't matter what it says. :please: |

Well, it's not like he only had one good season. He won two MVPs, a Gold Glove, and held the HR record for over 35 years. This isn't Brady Anderson we're talking about. He did average 30 HR a season at a time when there weren't many HR hit. |
