I'm really quite surprised with how heavy a media market that New York is that a few flaws about RJ haven't been mentioned. Granted, I'm stoked to have him as a Yankee, but I think it's unfair not to address some bad about his career.

Despite going 24-5 in 2002, he still got hammered by a tough St. Louis offense in Game 1 of the NLDS in his last post-season start. In 2001, he also lost to a tough St Louis offense in Game 2 of the NLDS. His post-season stats haven't been impressive at all, especially if you exclude his performances against the weak offenses of the Braves and Yankees in 2001. Career wise, he's 7-8, would be 4-8 if you exclude those 3 wins he got against us in the World Series. Also, despite the ravings of his bullpen appearances in 95 and 01 against us, Velarde was able to get a go-ahead single to take the lead before Jack McDowell blew the save in 95 and he was throwing 90 against us in Game 7 of the World Series, but our offense was too inept to capitalize.

I'm just saying mentioning this, because I don't think it's out of the question that he might not to be able to handle Boston or another tough offense is a tight spot, since he's shown in the past, he can choke.

I'm not worried at all against RJ in a big spot against a good team.

From what I remember he had one bad start in the '01 playoffs and was great after that. If he fucks up, he's certainly not above criticism, but I'll wait until we're in the playoffs before I even worry about how RJ will do in them. Nothing is guaranteed, so we have to be concerned with getting there first.

The last pitcher I'm going to worry about on this staff is RJ. We finally have a dominant lefty and a ace. There won't be any soft L's like Vazquez or Brown in a Game 7 this year.

I was just mentioning it in the interest of full disclosure. I'm happy as hell we got him. There's no greater pitcher in baseball right now.

Can we stop with that "everything is wonderful" sh*t? The guy isn't saying that he's not happy to have Johnson or calling him a choker, its just something to think about.

LFW, there's a lot of media but they overlook/neglect to mention a lot of things. Just reading articles on the Giants, I know that. Those numbers won't be brought up unless he stinks in his first post season game here. Then all the writers will be out with the, "Could this be a trend?" articles.

Clemens blew chunks in his 2nd playoff game in '99 (that disgusting ALCS game vs. Pedro) and everyone thought he couldn't handle it from then on. The media is full of JACKOVs.

Clemens first season with us as a whole was somewhat disappointing. But we won. That's the bottomline. I'll worry about if RJ can pitch in the postseason here, when/if we get there. Again, no guarantees in this game.

I don't know why Johnson's bad playoff performances have been brought up here, when the playoffs are a long ways away? When we clinch the division then and only then should we bring up his playoff record, not now. Let him get accomodated here and let's watch him pitch some great regular season games first. I'm pretty sure that all the regular season games vs. Bastan he pitches in will serve him as a tuneup for the playoffs. Each of these games has a playoff type atmosphere and each game takes on a life of it's own. RJ will do just fine.
