newsday has an article about cameron demanding to be traded with us as a possible landing spot for him. good glove horrible hitter. [/QUOTE] If the Mets are to add Carlos Delgado to their winter renovation, they'd prefer to clear some salary. Conveniently enough, Mike Cameron would prefer to be elsewhere. With Carlos Beltran taking his centerfield job, Cameron has conveyed to the Mets that he'd rather play centerfield elsewhere than play rightfield for them, according to an industry source. The Mets would like to shed Cameron, who is due about $14 million over the next two seasons, off their payroll as they prepare to meet with Delgado in Puerto Rico, as early as tonight. The Diamondbacks, Astros and Tigers are looking for a centerfielder. The Yankees, having not gone after Beltran, know that Bernie Williams is on the decline, making them a longshot. |

We really need a right-handed bat that can play the outfield and 1st base. Who's going to be playing 1st when there's tough lefties. |

MM, you're right with your sig, we need Magglio Ordonez. He's not going to get as much as he could have before the injuries, and the Yankees need his bat and the depth it gives our team. As far as who plays first base when we play a tough lefty, I'm thinking that we probably won't have that type of right-handed bench player this year. Miguel Cairo could have played first base against lefties as our utility guy, but he's gone. I guess Tino or Giamroid will have to play 1st against the lefties. |

He's a great glove and that's what we really need. (What we gain from his defense will mostly offset his K's and low ba). Plus, as a #8 or 9, he would give excellent production. Yes, I know he K's a lot, but the guy also hit 30 home runs along with 22sb. 30 home runs 22 stolen bases from a #8 or 9 hitter? wow His career obp is .340 so he does take some walks too. :peace: of course, my preference is juan pierre, but he's not available and cameron is. i can't take another season with bad knees barnabe in cf. :annoyed: |

That's why I wanted to sign Josh Phelps when he was available. :peace: And why do you guys hate Bubba so much? He's here only to pinch run and be a defensive replacement in the OF. If Bernie gets injured for a serious length of time, I have no doubt we'll go out and trade for someone. |

Phelps has been trash since his rookie year. He was supposed to be the Jays heir apparent to Delgado at 1B, but he played so bad over the years that they got rid of him. It's not a big deal that we didn't sign him. |

He hit .309 with 12 HR against lefties last season. I'd be more than satisfied if he played 1b against lefties. |

Wow, I checked his splits. He's horrible against righties, but he hits lefties well, kind of like Shane Spencer. I wonder if the Yankees could pull a trade for Dmitri Young if Detroit wants to clear money to sign Ordonez. He's a switch hitter that can play 1B, 3B, LF, and RF |

I would stay away from Young. If Cameron is available, go for him, if not, I'm fine with Bubba. Who are 4 guys on the decline? Tino, Giambi, Bernie then who? Sheff? Posada? |

The Yankees could need a new Center Fielder, but They are ok with Bernie as the everyday Center Fielder, than with Soriano as a true Play-Off choker. The Yankees could've signed Beltran, and turned His back on The Yankees offer.maybe before this years trade deadline The Yankees could have a new Center Fielder. |

I would rather see the Yankees stick with Bernie this year and try to obtain Pierre next off season. |

Sori is NOT going to play CF anytime soon for us. So let's stop dreaming that he's coming here!! :no1: I wouldn't mine seeing him back, but it takes awhile to adapt to an OF position when you have played INF positions a majority of the time. The Yankees would expect him to learn the position quickly too and that wouldn't bode well for Sori. I think the Yankees will be fine w/ Bernie starting and Bubba taking over in the late innings. Games are usually won and lost a majority of the time because of the starting pitching, bullpen, and at times faulty defense. A cf's defense isn't always to blame, unless he makes a key error that leads to a big inning for the other team. I know some want an all-star at every position, but don't you think if we had another all-star cf'er it would be overkill? This maybe Bernie's last year playing CF, because I know the Yankees have targeted Juan Pierre ever since the Marlins beat us in 03. He will be the new cf'er come 06, hopefully he will still be on the market by then. The Marlins could trade him by the deadline to fill a void of their's. |
