WFAN keeps saying that the RJ press conference is tomorrow after the Bueltran one which is at 11am (according to WFAN), so why the hell haven't we heard if Javy and Fat Navarro passed yet? Is WFAN Jumping the gun? I'm getting tired of this waiting. :furious: I get funny feelings when I have to wait 100 years for things to develop, just like the Pettitte thing.

Um, you do know that as of now, the Mets aren't anything more than a .500 team, right? Your bullpen is still awful, the offense could use another quality bat, and you didn't add Pedro to the staff you had last year. You lost Leiter (led the NL in ERA most of the season). With all the money spent on Martinez and Beltran, I don't think that Wilpon will pony up and spend an additional $10M a year on Delgado. That means you still don't have a real first baseman. Once again, you're going it with Jason Phillips (still in the starting lineup) and Mike Piazza. Don't get too excited.

your right wilpon won't spend 10 million a year on delgado, he'll spend 13 million a year on him and no the mets are not a .500 team right now, they WILL be a winning team next season! they have one of the top rotations in baseball, if they add another bat (delgado maybe) then they will have one of the best lineups in the league, as for the bullpen it needs a little work but not alot! people talk about the bullpen like it's the worst in the league which it isn't, looper was great last season, dejean pitched his ass off when he was traded to the mets and yates was coming into his own as a reliever so i'm not worried about the bullpen that much, the mets will be a good team next season strizzle!!! :peace:

You have two good pitchers in your rotation. Martinez and Glavine - barring another terrible season like 2003 or another crash & burn (pun intended) like he had late last season. Steve Trachsel isn't consistent and you can't expect more than a .500 record out of him. I don't even know who else is in your rotation. As I said, you didn't add Pedro to what you had last year. You lost Leiter and although Pedro will probably be an upgrade, he's not an addition but a replacement.

You've got 3 guys in the bullpen. And that's according to you because I don't have confidence in any of them. I don't trust Looper in a big spot.

Even with Delgado, that offense wouldn't be elite. Mike Piazza on a steady decline so you can't count on him for .330/35 HR. Jose Reyes, if he's even recovered from the broken leg yet, you can't count on. He got hurt again last year and when he was playing, didn't he hit around .250? You're gonna have to hope that David Wright progresses. And that's not a given. Delgado and Beltran would be the only big boppers in the lineup who you could count on to do damage. That's not "top offense" calibur.

strizzle don't be silly, here's the mets projected lineup (with delgado) and starting rotation:

1.reyes
2.matsui
3.beltran
4.delgado
5.wright
6.piazza
7.floyd
8.cameron

that's an excellent lineup!

1.martinez
2.glavine
3.benson
4.zambrano
5.trachsel

that's a solid rotation 1-5, everyone is where they are suppose to be, benson and zambrano both still have the potential to be really good pitchers! i feel rick peterson will help them both and they will thrive pitching in shea, they showed a little of what they could do last season, trachsel is consistent, he will have a .500 record but that's just fine cause he is the 5th starter!!!

I'm not a Mets hater. Unlike most Yankees fans, I don't root against your team. Most of the times I'm disinterested and depending on who you're playing, I root for them. I'm just being honest about the team. You didn't believe me when I said you'd be below .500 last year.

My mistake for forgetting about Zambrano and Benson. However, Benson has never had an ERA below 4.3 before and as of now, he's no more than a .500 pitcher. Just because he was the 1st pick doesn't mean he's special. He's 30 years old and he's yet to put in quality work. Zambrano, didn't they amputate his arm last year? The guy pitched, what, 2 games for you? He's got serious arm problems and you can't come into the season relying on him. Really, all of your starters have question marks. Pedro, I think he'll be good for 2 seasons, but he's still not a given.

1.reyes - injury prone and coming off a broken leg. also hit .250 last seaosn
2.matsui - changing positions. can't hit left-handed. streaky hitter.
3.beltran - he's your man. but you can't forget that he hit .267 last year
4.delgado - Wilson Delgado? Carlos is not on your team
5.wright - played well as a rookie, but so did reyes. has to prove himself in year 2
6.piazza - declining. nobody would be shocked if he only hit .265/20 HR next year
7.floyd - always injured. considered retiring after the season ended. so-so #s
8.cameron - awful contact hitter. he's just there for his glove

You can't call that an elite offense.

it may not be elite by yankee standards, but with a 1b and another arm in the bullpen it can be good enough to have a winning season.

Let the Muet fans have their fun now. They'll come back to reality when Pedro, Glavine and Tracshel have their usual second half slumps.

The Mets brought in a few good players, although they might have overpayed. Good for them though. They needed it.

We needed Johnson and Pavano. We got Johnson and Pavano. Blow me.
