I take that as a no. Bernie is gonna cost us 10,000 runs next year. I hope RJ fights him like he did with Luis Gonzalez. I'm gonna go on record right now as saying that Bernie will be responsible for every signle loss the Yanks have. |

The best thing we can do right now is sign Maggs to a deal if he accepts a low base, high incentive deal, play him in LF with Matsui in CF. We could always lock him down if he produces and have him as our RF for after Sheffield and sign someone like Pierre next off-season, and move him back to RF with Matsui back in LF. |

Only way I do it is if we give the Reds something like Quantrill and Graman and they pay about half of Griffey's annual salary. |

I'm not thrilled with the idea of getting Griffey Jr. but we certainly do need a new CF next season. Bernie should be the full-time DH. |

Oh, he's available? Here's what ESPN has to say on that: October 29, 2004 Reds extend Casey's contract through 2006 Sean Casey had his contract extended through the 2006 season on Friday, the clearest message yet that the Cincinnati Reds have no intention of trading him. Instead, they picked up an $8.5 million option for the additional year. Plus, he's a first baseman and we already have two. We need a scrappy and most important excellent defensive outfielder, preferably a CF. |

Hell nay. He's got a sh*t load of money and years left on his contract and he's proven that he can't stay healthy. Every season he comes back and there's the little BB2N segment and the usual interviews - "This is the year. He's back!" - and every year, he gets hurt. We've got a $200M payroll, fragility and question marks are things we shouldn't have to worry about. Cinci fans' nutsacks tense up whenever the guy has to move. Also, Junior done growed up. He's 35 now. Besides the injuries, the usual "washed-up-ness" should start setting in soon. |

To add to my last post: Washed-up-ness might have already started. Him losing a few steps in the OF can be attributed to the leg injuries, but he's not the hitter he was. What did he hit last year? I don't remember, but wasn't it around .230? I wouldn't trade Brown for him. Atleast his contract is up at the end of this season, Griff's won't be done until you're MM's age. |
