Mets signed LHP Dae-Sung Koo to a one-year contract with a team option for 2006.
Interesting. Koo's agent had been telling everyone who would listen that a contract with the Yankees was agreed to over a month ago. The 35-year-old Koo was 24-34 with a 3.88 ERA in 63 starts and 47 relief appearances in four seasons in Japan. He recorded 504 strikeouts in 503 innings. The Mets will give him a chance to make the team as a reliever.

His agent was going around saying him and the Yankees reached a deal. So all the papers reported that we signed him. This was right around the Winter Meetings, then Cashman said all pissed off that the deal wasn't done and the Yankees are pissed at the agent for leaking the news. So I guess they decided not to sign him. :-|

Lies!!

I just remembered you were looking at his crappy stats from china, and of course they sucked, so you were saying what a bad signing it was and that you hoped he didn't have an annoying pitching motion!

Yeh, they better call off the RJ trade. We'll need Halsey as our lefty specialist now, King.

I thought Mr. Doo Doo had been signed already. Then I hear that the Mets signed him. So I'm like how many Doo Doo's are there? His age and stats aren't really that impressive. There really aren't too many successful Japanese or Korean pitchers that have thrived here lefty or righty, starter or reliever. I think Stanton is decent, but we could use another lefty in the bullpen. Our starters should be able to pitch deeper into games now. If Stanton can't pitch efficiently when called upon then and only then should we go after someone at the all star break. We should give him the chance first though.

It's a shame we couldn't give up Graman and Proctor in the Unit trade instead of Halsey. He was pretty good against lefties, and I think he would've been a nice lefty specialist.

Most of the time, you have to give up something good to get something good back in return. We could always trade for Randy Choke to be our lefty specialist!! :laugh2:
