Watching Bernie look like Willie Mays in the '73 series everyday is gonna be real fun. The thought of Randy Winn in CF for the next 3 yrs makes my nipples harder than oak. How about you? |

On second thought, I'd love to be stuck with another multi-year $100 million contract. :-| |

VC 4 Life.

Yeah, like has been said, this team is full of too many hitters like Beltran as it is. Not worth adding him, especially at Boras' ridiculous asking price. We do need a new CF though. |

I agree. That's why I'm in favor of trading for a one-year stopgap like Winn or Byrnes, then sign Pierre. |

These guys are sh*t stains. Beltran is 27 years old with speed, defense and power and can be the corner stone of our offense for years with Jeter and A-Rod. This is not like giving Roid Boy a 7 year deal when he was 31. |

He's definitely not worth the money he's looking for, but his age and his upside makes him appealing...in a manly sort of way. |

We don't need another player of his ilk. We need a Pierre/Ichiro type of guy. |

We need a guy who can play a great CF, period. I couldn't care less what they do at the plate, offense isn't the problem. If Beltran wasn't asking for the moon and the stars I'd love to sign him. |

Eric Byrnes hit .283 with 20 home runs, 73 RBI's 17 SB's and a .347 OBP. Those are some pretty solid numbers for a guy who I'd assume would be hitting 8th or 9th. Ideally I'd like to add another lefthanded hitter because I think we're too righthanded but Byrnes would be a solid player in a lineup that doesn't need much more. What are the odds the Angels would give up DaVanon? .372 OBP, switch hitter, he'd be a good idea too. |

This reads like the A-Rod-Texas situation. With all due respect to the Muets, all things being equal Beltran would never go there. He's forcing himself to go there for the money. |

When A-Rod signed with Texas the were a year removed from 2 division titles. The Muets are a year removed from 2 last place finishes. |

Don't make the Mets sound like they have a playoff caliber staff. They have Pedro and then decent guys. Benson, Zambrano, Trachsel, and Glavine have been average at best the last few seasons. |
