This sucks Offense: I said 2 weeks ago that we'd be able to let Eli go for the last 2 weeks. So let him go. 27-30 passes. Barber is really too banged up at this point to be counted on. He might break a big run like last week, but i dont expect more than 85 yds. We should be passing anyway. we're at the point where its more about seeing what Eli can handle than winning (though no one will ever admit it). For the most part I was happy with what we did last week, and they have a similar zone based scheme. Spread it out a little bit with the 5 wide, hes comfortable with that bc/ thats what he did at Ole Miss. That should get early completions better than those FB checks. Mix in the run a little bit then just let him go. Defense: We're f*cked. We have no DT's and 2 bitch LB's. they'll run though us if we dont blitz the interior. What we've been doing for about a month now is overloading one side and backing out coming from the other side. Whether its Kitna or Palmer thats the type of thing we should do. for example, lets say you load up with Emmons and Lewis, when they back out they're in position to contain the run. While you send Greisen, Alexander, or Walker off the backside that leaves some risky coverage but it will confuse either of them and hopefully lead to a few INTS and give us a chance. Realistically Johnson will be over 110 and CJ will burn us downfield. |

 This game will either be a blowout or a shootout. Our defense will not be able to stop the Cinci offense (whether its Palmer or Kitna). Rudi Johnson will run through our front 7 like a bengal, Chad Johnson will get his stats extra-pretty for the Pro Bowl, and Houshmanzadeh will lead The Bx. Bullies to victory this week. If we're gonna be in this game, Hufnagel and Coughlin have to open it up and start chucking. 27-30 won't be enough. I think we're looking at 35-40 (The Bengals will score too quickly to dominate time of possession). Mix in some screens (which we should have been running all along with a rookie QB) will deep passes. If Taylor is playing, I want to see some 4 wide with JT and Tyree streaking the slots. How about some short hook routes for Toomer? Shockey on some deep crossing patterns to free guys up underneath. Tiki needs just enough carries to surpass his career high in rushing. I'd like to see him used on some wheel routes. CHUCK IT! |

They've done a pretty good job of pass blocking the last few weeks. Ofcourse, they haven't been seeing many blitzes and when they have, we've been fortunate to have Barber in the backfield at the right time blocking (actually blocking well). With that, I think that's where Eli has to be able to audible. If he sees the blitz then he can fake audible to back them off or see how they respond or check to a swing or screen instead of the wheel. Last time Tiki was on a wheel, it was a 30+ yard reception and he took it to the 1 yard line. |

JT is out....or questionable i dont remember. most of the game we should pass out of 3-5 wide sets. they're not a talented defense. Spread them like little Susie at prom and let Eli sling....exactly like you said Shockey acrross. Ike and Amani on hooks and comebacks (+ a few go combos with Tyree) |
