Last night, during the ESPN telecast, they said that Mushim Muhammad will be a free agent at the end of this season. He's had a couple down seasons before this year (Chris Weinke/Rodney Peete at QB then Steve Smith emerging) but he's really come on in the second half of this season. What he's doing now reminds me of what Toomer was doing late in 2002 with Darly Jones as the #2, except MinM is scoring more. He's the go-to guy and he's stepped up. He isn't the gamebreaker I crave, but he's been a playmaker. He's also helped lead my fantasy team. Porter, we've already discussed. He's younger, faster, and bigger. He's never had a 1,000 yard season but he's always been the slot receiver. This year he's dealt with injuries and Kerry Collins' early struggles. We're liking him because of his talent. He'd be the speedy downfield threat who can compliment Toomer. He's not a #1 receiver, but he and Toomer would atleast combine to give us two quality #2s. Hilliard would be moved to the slot (I'd prefer released) and could be our Wayne Chrebet, third down man. For Muhammad - Has had big seaons before. Is having a big season now. He might score 15 TDs this season. - He's a playmaker. Leaping catches, diving catches, clutch catches. Had Delhomme not overthrown him so much last night, he would have scored the game-winning TD. - I think he's about 32 years old. That means that his contract wouldn't be as long term as Porter's would be. - He's a veteran and we've never heard any static from him. He sucks it up and just goes about his business, even when things are bleek. <- Not something that I like but I know most prefer that. For Porter - He's more physically talented than Muhmmad. He's faster, heavier, and has better leaping ability. - He's closer to the gamebreaker that this offense needs. - I think he's only about 26 years old. Who would you prefer? |

I don't think I'd be looking for a WR anywhere but the draft. There's going to be quite a few decent FAs this year. Most of which, though, appear to be on teams who know how to work their cap. With Carter (if he can stay healthy), Taylor (who seems to have a natural rapport with Manning and will, I do not doubt, end up being Manning's Go-to guy in the future) and Tyree (who regardless of how we use him should never be taken off ST full-time) we have a VERY good base WR corps for the future. Ponder had a good return game yesterday, but, he is a much better WR. Drop the duties to Ward. This year's crop of WRs and RBs is going to contain alot of late-round jewels, which works out for us since that's all we have to choose from. I'd take that extra dollar we're gonna have in cap room this year and use it to shore up our OL and D. Especially our OL. |

Muhammed is probably going to command a lot of money after this season. Porter should be relatively cheap in comparison. I mean, if Muhammed and Porter were similar costs, definitely I would prefer Muhammed. The guy is sort of a Hines Ward, in the sense that he will lay out a cornerback on a block and isn't afraid to get his hands dirty. |

BH, I dont think Carter will ever be consistent enough to be a starter. He doesnt run routes well and he doesnt go over the middle. Hes a slot WR an really thats if hes healthy. There arnt really any good WR's in our rnage for the draft. Porter, no question about it. Younger faster and hes a playmaker too. He can do more than just run go routes. |

1. Porter 2. Galloway 3. Bradford- big plays but no consistent enough to start. Muhammad is 32, he'll be broken down in 2 yrs, and hes not the ideal fit |

Carter can't stay healthy. Nothing is guaranteed with Taylor. He was a 6th round pick coming off knee surgery and outside of catching two 50 yarders, he hasn't done anything. And he's even injured right now. You can project and hope, but you can't go into a season with that. David Tyree was drafted as a special teamer. He should go to the Pro Bowl as a special teamer. He's not a starting WR. The only passes I've ever remembered him catching are 2 screens, a go route on a flea flicker from Jesse Palmer, the 49 yarder from Manning, and a couple hitches late last season. He's got some speed (not great) and that's about it. If he were Marvin Harrison, he wouldn't have gone 5th or 6th round. ---------------------------------------------------------------- I think that Joey Galloway is a name we should think about. Since we're the Giants, he's the most likely option. He's got speed and he's a veteran. Coughlin will probably like that. |

Out of those two defenitly Porter. He's been playing very well. I see Plaxico is also an FA I would love to have him. Also isn't Mike Williams the awsome wide reciver on USC last year entering the draft? He would be a great draft pick if he ever fell into the 2nd round. |
