The ***** have Coughlin on and they're asking him about the fade. They read to him a quote from Shockey were J says that everytime we're in that formation with me split wide in iso, the defense knows the fade is coming and all the defender does is run to the back corner of the endzone. Coughlin sounds upset and says, "No, that's not true," and defends the play. He says that they've run from the formation and yada-yada, its not always the fade to Shockey. Then Francesa jumps in and begins to rip Shockey. He tells Coughlin that he's been sick of him for years before he (Tough Tommy) came here. He refered to J as a clown and lit into him for mocking Owen's "Eagle" dance. Gee, I might have taken that without a grain of salt, had I not known the history. If I recall, and I do recall, in Shockey's rookie year he had agreed to do a radio segment with The *****. After about a month, he misses two shows. He leaves The ***** hanging and they drop him. Since then, they've taken every opportunity they can get to rip the guy. Granted, Shockey gives them material (hype + making yourself front 'n center + being a big name + dropped passes and lack of huge production = sh*t talk), but they just love going at him. Just like Strahan. All Strahan does is be the best all-around DE in the league and he doesn't do anything over-the-top. The problem? He doesn't do interviews with them (Michael Kay) and they hate him. Who knows, maybe that's why Russo doesn't say his name right. |

if the eagles knew the fade was comming how come they had a guy 5 inches shorter lined up on shcokey, it was just a bad throw and a bit of a bad route, but if eli threw it high enough there would be no problem |

Did you read my post about it yesterday? It was a bad play call. They should have run the "fade stop" instead of the regular fade. The fade stop is what we did against the Cowboys. The regular fade is better used outside of the redzone w/ a fast receiver. You float it up downfield and let him run past his man. Like a go route, except you lob it right away. Like I said yesterday, If that play is going to work, Eli has to lob it high enough over the defender's head but not too high or too hard that its out of Shockey's reach and Shockey has to make a Willie Mays basket catch. Too much has to go right for that one to work. Had Coughlin/Hufnagel called the "fade stop" he spins around, boxes out the defender like its a rebound, and its a jump ball. The 6'5" w/ athletic ability usually wins that. That's what they should have called. I blame the coach/coordinator for that more than Eli. |

im not sure if it wasnt a fade stop shockey was looking at eli the whole time and you kinda see him stop then once he sees where the ball is going he starts going, anyway no matter what kinda of fade it was there is no excuse for eli not getting the ball high enough. |

Unless it was supposed to be the fade stop and Eli threw it too early, it looked like a regular fade. To the back corner. Its a tough throw. |

I watch them for a good laugh these days. They're just a comedy act now. You can't take what they say seriously anymore. |
