I copied this off someone at giants.com and unfortunately, its ordered by teams instead of positions. But, its better than nothing. The numbers next to the names are ages, although I don't know what .9 of a year equals.

David Givens is what, the Patriots #3 or 4 receiver? He catches passes in that offense because everyone, including linebackers, catch passes in that offense. Not for the Gians.

David Patten is a slot man. He doesn't give the Giants what they'd need from the slot. He's more a product of the Pats offense. I know he's made some nice plays, but he's not that talented and as a Giants fan, you can't expect him to keep overacheiving if he comes here.

We'd all like Vinatieri, he would lock up the PK spot for us. But he's clutch as a mo'fucka and he's very good overall. The Patriots won't let him get away. You know the Pats aren't in cap trouble. Two Super Bowls in three seasons and they're in a better cap situation than the Giants.

John Abraham is gonna cost a lot. He got off to a great start this season and although he's slowed down, he's probably on pace for around 15 or 16 sacks. By the end of this season, he's gonna be a 3-time Pro Bowler. Too much money for a guy we don't need. We have a cheaper substitute in Osi.

Burress isn't exactly what we need (he's not a speedster/gamebreaker), but he's a good receiver and he would provide a 6'6" target for a young QB to throw to.

I'd let Rob put his dick in my ear if we got Orlando Pace. But I'm the sure the Rams will lock him up. If not, he'll get the franchise tag. Even if he was free, the Giants would refuse to sign him.

Peterson will cost a lot, if the 49ers let him go. And he's a smaller speed LB coming off a torn ACL or achillies (both are "f*ck you up" injuries). Remember how good Ian Gold was with the Broncos and how some of us wanted him last year? He tore up his ACL and now nobody knows or cares where he is and he ain't doing sh*t. No to Peterson.

Fred Smoot is a starting cornerback. He'll be getting starter money. He wouldn't come here to play the slot and the Giants aren't gonna have Will Allen (although they're so high on him it would be Peterson who gets it) move to the Nickel.

Toomer doesn't fit in this offense and he's never been used the way he should. That's no excuse for dropping some balls that come his way and not being able to beat single coverage or break long runs, but that's what it is. He's a 6'3" receiver w/ decent speed but all these years the Giants have been using him as a speed receiver. Intermediate, long ball, or nothing. That shouldn't be his game. Now with the way Tom Coughlin runs it and with the offensive line not being able to buy enough time for him to get downfield, he really doesn't fit. The Giants need guys that can get open quickly and get YAC, he's not that.

But calling him a piece of sh*t is way off. One of only three players in the NFL with 5 consecutive 1,000 yard seasons. Couple quality games down the stretch and he's in line for another one. You know that Toomer already has better numbers than a lot of Hall of Famers? I'm not saying that he's elite or anything like that. But he's not sh*t.

my words were a little strong, i'll just say he's sh*t now, he use to be a pretty damn good receiver!!! ;)

He's sucked this season but "sh*t" is worse than "suck". I don't think he's on that sh*t level. sh*t is what the Browns and Ravens receivers are doing. Plus you can't put all the blame on him. Its 50/50 between the situation and system and him not playing up to potential.

^ This sh*t ain't even worth argueing though. Just word selection. :peace:

the only thing that i dont like about toomer is that to me he looks like a body catcher and every year he lets a defender just get his hands on that ball, that he would of caught if he tried to catch it with his hands, i know im not making much sense but still.

Bow, you're making perfect sense. Its true. All the great receivers catch the ball with their hands becausee (1) it gives them possesion as quickly as possible (2) it helps prevent the defender from coming in and knocking it out from behind or the side and (3) it prevents the ball from being knocked lose on a jarring hit from the defender. A hand-catcher gets hit in the back on the reception, he has a better chance of holding onto it becuase the ball is in his hand, not against his body. You've got a guy waiting for the ball to hit him in the chest, the defender just has to knock him from behind and he drops it. I don't know why it hasn't been addressed. I know why it wasn't with Fassel, but I figured that Tom Coughlin would get him off that.

Plaxico Burress. I know he isn't a huge need for this team, but he's my 2nd favorite WR since college, after Randy Moss of course.

Does anyone know if this is the complete list of free agents? Someone on giants.com said that Jerry Porter will be a FA and brought up the idea of the Giants getting him. Toomer is locked up and won't be going anywhere (thanks, No Neck) and we have to compliment him with some speed at #2. Porter has proven that he isn't a #1 but he could be effective for us. He's about 6'2" or 6'3" and he's got speed. As a Giants fan, you better not have any notions of singing a superstar. Porter is more in our realm. What do you think of that?

I don't know. Like you, I haven't seen him that much. I have seen him make some great plays though (sideline catches, diving catches, leaping catches, YAC runs). He's a great athlete but I don't know how consistent he is. This season, he's on pace for similar (if not identical) numbers as Toomer. But you can't judge soley on that because he's got Kerry Collins (couldn't be bothere to come up with a nickname this time) playing QB and last season it was Rick Mirer and Tuiasosopo.

Corey Bradford. Surprised he wasn't mentioned. He can fly. We need a deep threat target. I'd sign him as a #3, or have him and Carter fight it out for the #2 spot. I also like the idea of Plaxico or Porter as a #2, if we don't get bradford, or if, like I said, use bradford as a #3 in 3+ wideout formations.

Cut Peterson. :peace:

- Peterson is our best cornerback and if all is fair, deserves Pro Bowl consideration.
- William Peterson was locked up to a long term extension before this season.
- Unlike Will Allen, you couldn't juke Peterson out of his cleets.
- Like NJ said, McQurters isn't going to step down from being a #1 CB to my Nickel on the Giants. The Big Blue allure isn't that great.

Going over the list I thought of him. But Bradford isn't anything more than a #3 on a good offense. You don't want Tim Carter fighting for anything, he'd dislocate his wrist while trying to scratch the other guy. Right now, I think you have to rule Lil Timmy out completely. He hasn't given you any reason to believe that he can play more than 5 consecutive games. Plaxico isn't a real #1 and we don't have one, but atleast he's a quality #2, unlike Hilliard. Porter isn't as good but he more matches what we need and I think he'd come cheaper.

Just a thought to tickle your brain for a second: Someone on giants.com (they've got so many people that just about every idea is thrown around over there) said that Antonio Gates is a RFA and suggested the Giants go after him and move Shockey to WR. A super athletic 6'6"/260 lbs. TE who is on pace for around 1,100 yards/13 TDs this season and having an athletic 6'5"252 lbs. wide receiver. Won't happen, just something to play mental ping pong with.
