I'll get the good stuff out of the way first. We didnt blitz that much in either half, contrary to what I first thought watching the game live. We couldnt get any push in the 1st half w/ our front four in the 2nd half and we left the other 7 in coverage and gave up 2 TD's. In the 2nd hald 4 players made the difference: Osi Umenyiora (Unblockable all game), Chuck Wiley (Great job getting out and containing the other side so Vick couldnt roll out like he did in the 1st half) Carlos Emmons (All game he was just reading and reacting. He relies alot of natural ability, once they contained the edges he played ALOT BETTER in the 2nd half. And Terry Cousin, Lewis brought him down in the box the entire 2nd half and we played a 4-4 defense. Wiley and Umenyiora held the edges emmons and Cousin held the inside. And that made the difference. Now onto the bad. Usually when I say bad stuff about a player, you have to be fair and mention anything he did well. You cant be discriminatory and bias about it. I swear im not. If anyone finds something that Nick Greisen did right in this game please point it out to me. He is terrible. And I dont mean "terrible" in the sense that im mad and he missed a tackle argghh motherf'er. I mean he is just a bad Linebacker. His speed is non existent. He is amazingly slow. Its baffling. Whenver he had to get to the edge and contain a play (alot in 1st half) he just couldnt do it. He'd be 2 or 3 steps late. He can not shed blockers. He is just too small, a guard would take him and clear him the f*ck out in run blocking. The only time he made a run tackle was when he was unblocked. The one time he got matched up with Crumpler downfield Crumpler ended up wide open. 75% of the play actions he would bite inside and lose a step in coverage outside. He is not an NFL LB. 2 Changes that should be made next week: Reggie Torbor in, Nick Greisen Out Chuck Wiley in, Lance Legree Out Btw: on the Vick fumbled it went right to Legree and he dropped it. And the Emmons "Roughing the Passer call is still bullsh*t, Vick was falling down at the time. Incidental contact |
