From mets.com:

MLB.com has confirmed that the Mets received a three-year, $25-million counter offer from Kris Benson's camp on Monday. The club's last offer was for three years and $20.25 million, with a vesting option for a fourth year. Benson would be open to a floating option, much like the one Tom Glavine has

Looks like both sides weren't as close as we all thought.

Is he crazy? How the hell does he expect to get that money? It's not like he's an elite pitcher. He's posting a 4+ ERA in the NL. :puke:

Agreed! No one is giving him more than the Mets. He better take it before they change their minds!

Not sure what you mean?? :dunno: I root for the Yanks in the AL and the Mets in the NL.

If you're talking about Benson, he had a .500 record this year and a below .500 record for his career. He's serviceable as a #4 or #5 but certainly not elite. Myself, I'd rather have Lieber than Benson.

Anyway, Benson is not going to get a lot of money elsewhere. Hell, I dont even see him as a prime target on any other team. People say that we overpaid for him when we actually didnt. Wigginton is not a special player and Peterson is overrated IMO. He better take that offer if he knows whats good for him.

Kazmir for Zambrano though...... :wall:

Yeh, agreed. Al's a class act. And still a pretty good pitcher for a team with a good strong bullpen. He'll battle and give you 5-6 decent innings pretty much every time out.

He might be a decent fit with the Yanks if we can significantly improve our middle relief (including adding a good situational lefty reliever).
