The Mets should jump on the Phillips/bradford deal

In 2002/2003 Chad bradford was a dominant set up man. He definitely has a better chance at regaining his old form than Koch. Gettign him for Jason Phillips would be a steal, phillips hasn't done anything to prove that those three months in 2003 weren't an aberration.

That's a good deal. The Mets should make that trade, trade Piazza somewhere, and get themselves a good catcher like AJ Pierzynski, since I believe the Giants want Yorvit Torrealba to start.

yea, i think it would be a good deal. but i think we should make a bigger deal out of it with phillips and one more player for dotel. he would be much better to have(obviously).

That's unrealistic, expecting Dotel to get traded at this point. He may get traded before 2006 or if the As are out of the playoff hunt in July, but they paid a lot to get him to close in terms of prospects. I seriously doubt they trade him right now.

Then if you deal Piazza, you have to have another catcher other than Vance Wilson. Unless you feel Mike Jacobs will be ready after the surgery on the cyst this season.

I think Pierzynski is a realistic option to acquire via trade.

yea i like the idea of pierziensky catching. he doesnt walk but he doesn't strike out either. plus he plays pretty good defense.

i wouldn't mind him and vance in a platoon.

AJ Pierzynski was on the Best Damn Sports Show during the World Series games ripping NY and Boston saying he would never want to play in either town. He said the fans their are just too nuts.

Pierzynski isn't great, but I think he's better than a guy to platoon with Vance Wilson. He would be most likely the starter 130 games out of the year.

Then it'd probably have to be a stopgag with some upside, since no one good is available. Varitek is overpriced and Kendall would be too heavy of a pricetag to bring in. Maybe a Juan Castro, Mike Redmond type.

JUST KEEP PIAZZA, he's still one of the best catchers in the game, as for that phillips/bradford deal, i'd do it in a second!!!

they should try to trade for brian schnieder. teh best defensive catcher in baseball and a decent lefty hitter. it would probally take a lot, but he would defiently be worth it. the red sox were offering kevin youkilis and doug M for him.
but i don't know what jim bowden's reason behind trading him would be.

Bowden is a f*cking moron if he got offered that trade and didn't accept it. He could always trade Johnson or meintkeiwitcz for a good prospect.

i think kevin youkillis is the most overrated prospect. can't play defense, can't run, can't hit for power. all he can do well is walk.

That deal never made sense to me anyway considering the Expos already have Nick Johnson.

oh OK.....they'll probably trade Johnson then.

Not the best plan but since they could get something for NJ, not completely nonsensical

*best all around defensive catcher is Mike Matheny and he's got the Gold Gloves to prove it. Plus, did you see what he got out of that mediocre St Louis pitching staff? only the best record in baseball! ;)

mike matheny is a free agent, if anything happens to piazza the mets could always sign him!!!

There are a couple good FA catchers Matheny, damian Miller, and a couple others. I would love to have Schnider because he's so much younger the matheny.
